Tik Tok isn't just for dancing gaggles of girls, or influencers pitching for you to buy the next 'it' item.

The video-led social media application is set to become your go-to for great eats!

If like me, you're planning to escape the hair-frizzing humidity and overwhelming heat of the Middle East this summer, at least for a little bit - I've turned to TikTok for some insight on where the cool kids are hanging out this summer.

Tik Tok is the perfect place to find some inspiration that will help you live your best Euro summer life.

Not only is food good for the soul, food is also one of the best ways to discover a new country or new town.

These are some of my favourite spots I have pinned for my Euro trip:

Cheese Wheel Pasta in Florence, Italy

When in Rome, eh? Or, rather Florence. Pasta is a must-eat when visiting Italy. You've likely seen this dish on your social feeds: a large Parmesan wheel is flambed and the melted cheese is scraped from the edges as fresh, handmade lengths of pasta are added with a dash of salt and pepper, and then served table side. Of course, there is the option to have shavings of fresh black truffle added to the dish for that extra flavour profile.

Chocolate Strawberries in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Chocolate covered strawberries are not necessarily a new invention, but these strawberries are exquisite pieces of art. Freshly made every day, these chocolate covered strawberries from Polaberry are bites of deliciousness. Grab a coffee and savour these on the edge of the canal as you enjoy the city of Amsterdam. Taking a picture is imperative. A new location of Polaberry just opened in Riyadh too, ideal for gifts or a sweet taste of summer in Europe without leaving Saudi, check out more here.

Ice Cream Cones in Budapest, Hungary

Not your usual ice cream spot, this place is famed for its rose petal ice cream cones. Gelarto Rosa allow you to select whichever flavours you prefer, and using a special spatula the servers create petal shapes that eventually create a rose of ice cream. From classic flavours like vanilla and chocolate, to seasonal fruity delights such as Alfonso mango to more eccentric and interesting flavours like milk and olive oil, sour cherry, purple ube and cactus fruit. Utterly Instagrammable, and confirmed as tasty by the Tik Tok food community.

Ice Cream Donuts in Barcelona, Spain

Rocambolesc is the an exciting Willy Wonka inspired ice cream parlour. However, it's this UFO Brioche Ice Cream Donut invention that has us pining for a trip to Barcelona. A sweet, fluffy brioche bun is filled with a scoop of your chosen ice cream and a few toppings, and then is pressed in a special toaster to create a UFO shape, whereby the edges of the brioche bun are sealed together and slightly toasted, whilst the ice cream remains perfectly creamy and cool inside.

Loaded Fries in London, United Kingdom

This spot has been repeatedly teasing me via Tik Tok and is located at the very popular Camden Market. Serving up delectable overflowing boxes and bowls of freshly fried French fries topped with a bevvy of Halal toppings and sauces, this is one to share with friends. The most viral order on Tik Tok has been the Masala Chips, extra crispy fries and tossed in a house blend of masala spices, smothered in a masala sauce and then topped with a garlicky mayonnaise and a sprinkling of both cheese and chives making for an ooey-gooey-crispy-flavourful market find.

Pastries in Paris, France

Next up, pastries in Paris. Cedric Grolet opened in Paris in 2018, and now has several outlets, but the talented pastry chef and his namesake bakery has found a new lease of life, and a new audience through social media. Cedric Grolet Opera is nestled in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, and is most definitely on the TikTik tour of Europe. From ultra-photogenic raspberry tarts to perfectly swirled croissants, this is pastry paradise. An undeniable master of pastry, Grolet has found a sweet spot on TikTok — and soon to be, in our bellies.

Pizza Pockets in Rome, Italy

Il Trapizzino is the go-to spot for traditional Roman street food. Known as Trapizzini, these pizza pockets are corners of crusty pizza dough filled with traditional pizza toppings such as fresh mozzarella, flavourful tomato sauce, peppery rocket leaves and much more. Hot and fresh, these hand held pizza pockets are on point for an on-the-go snack with traditional Italian flavours.

Sandwiches in Milan, Italy

So far TikTok has led me to discover potentially Italy's most famous sandwich shop. All'Antico Vinaio in Milan (and Florence) has reached legendary and viral social status, and has most definitely been added to my list. A smothering of garlicky, home-made pesto layered with thinly sliced turkey meat, a handful of peppery rocket, a chunk of creamy burrata on top, finished with a good lashing of olive oil, all between two slices of pillowy slices of freshly baked foccacia. These sandwiches have officially been added to the Euro-trip must-eat list.
