In the heart of Riyadh’s Al Aqiq sits Scarf Café, a rare oasis of serenity amidst the city’s commotion.
Opened in early July and welcoming guests daily from 6am to midnight, this charming spot has quickly become a cherished retreat. With its intimate atmosphere and crafted menu, it offers a soothing experience that invites moments of quiet reflection – a uniquely comforting escape.
The Small Details
Stepping inside, you're immediately embraced by an atmosphere of warmth and comfort.
The interior design feels like a welcoming extension of a friend’s home, where relaxation is paramount. The café’s intimate size adds to its cosy, familiar vibe, turning what could be viewed as a limitation into a defining feature. Each piece of furniture has been selected for both comfort and aesthetic appeal, complemented by distinctive artwork.
Thoughtfully placed lighting further enhances the serene ambience, making it an ideal spot for reading, working, or a leisurely conversation.
Coffee & Cake, Of Course
After taking in the café’s inviting atmosphere, I turned to the menu. Faced with so many enticing options, I asked the barista for a recommendation, and he suggested the Coffee of the Day paired with the café’s signature Scarf Cake. The suggestion was spot-on.
The coffee was expertly brewed, while the Scarf Cake – a decadent. chocolate creation topped with three types of fine Belgian chocolate – was a true standout, offering a memorable experience for any chocolate lover.
A Family Affair
While chatting with one of the staff members, I discovered that he was actually a co-founder of the café, along with his two brothers, and they are all deeply involved in its daily operations. This hands-on approach brings a personal touch to every aspect of Scarf Café, from the thoughtfully curated interiors to the crafted menu. Their attention to detail and commitment to family values shine through, making this not just a place to enjoy a drink and dessert, but an experience that reflects the owners' genuine passion and care.
