Firefly Burger
Boasting several locations across Doha (and around the world), Firefly Burger describes itself as an “immersive experience” in burger eating. While this may conjure up images of being wrapped in a burger bun (yum!), in reality it’s being surrounded by rustic country-style decor with a little burger-themed food performance (you’ll see ridiculous amounts of melted cheese going from skillet to burger at your table, plus toppings being injected directly into the patty), it’s mouthwatering and bonkers, and we’re here for it.
Shake Shack
Old favourite Shake Shack is just as popular as ever in Doha, with a number of locations around the city for dine-in or delivery. Order up a stacked beef burger with all the toppings or opt for a classic hot dog or chicken sandwich. The add ons are our favourite – check out the viral Dubai shake (that’ll be that ever-so-talked-about pistachio and chocolate flavour) or a side order of fried pickles (surprisingly tasty). Decor varies from location to location but expect simple wooden tables and a clean layout.
Burger Boutique
Upscale joint Burger Boutique looks like the brainchild of a vampire and a scientist. This cave-like restaurant in Gulf Mall is all grey decor, cut-off pipes dangling from the ceiling and large illuminated jars of various pickled delicacies on the wall. The food is seriously good though, with a healthy dose of style (think pink burger buns, fries piled into mountains and luminous juices served in pouring jugs). It’s a burger joint for people who want a restaurant experience rather than the classic plastic-tables-and-chairs fast food. Various locations around Doha.
Burgeri
We love the New York loft-style decor of this burger restaurant in Aspire Park, with wall-to-ceiling panelled windows and low hanging lights. Grab a bite to eat here after a stroll round the park; we like the B Guacamole Wagyu Burger with jalapenos but the menu is extensive and also features chicken, hot dogs and fries, plus a range of delicious mocktails. A word to the wise that the decor may be New York-style, but the portion sizes aren’t, so consider ordering a second burger if you’re super hungry.
Stock Burger Co. Doha
Okay, this burger restaurant may be inside a bar at the Holiday Inn, but hear us out: this place does some of the best burgers in town. The bar is cozy but spacious, the staff are friendly, and you can order a beer with your meal (and watch sports on the screen, if that’s your thing). The portion sizes are incredibly generous (especially the burgers), and you’ll find everything from plates of wings, chicken tikka platters and stacked patties to huge slices of chocolate cake, ice creams and shakes.
