Saudi Arabia's Red Sea International Film Festival announces 2025 dates

The Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) is set to return to the historic heart of Jeddah, Al Balad for its fifth edition later this year.

Slated to take place from December 4 to 13, 2025, this year's edition not only celebrates the festival's fifth anniversary but also underscores its rapid ascent as a facilitator of cultural exchange in the MENA region.

The Impact of the RSIFF on Film

Established in 2019, the Red Sea International Film Festival has quickly become a pivotal platform for filmmakers, drawing an impressive crowd with last year's attendance hitting a record high of over 40,000, including 7,000 registered guests.

The internationally attended, this Saudi-based film event leverages Jeddah's vibrant creative energy as a key Saudi platform to welcome the world to celebrate film. The Foundation's main initiative is to highlight the incredible creations of the local and international film industry, whilst championing talented film-makers and directors from the Kingdom and the wider Arab region.

Previous editions of the much-loved film festival have not only showcased a diverse array of films (with 122 films from 85 countries screened last year, including 46 world premieres), but have also played a crucial role in highlighting and nurturing talent from the region.

The 2025 edition promises to build on the event's legacy of championing cinematic excellence, fostering creativity, and supporting filmmakers from the Middle East, Asia and Africa, according to a statement by the RSIFF.

The festival's competitions such as the Red Sea: Competition and Red Sea: Shorts Competition (which debuted last year) spotlight groundbreaking full-length and short films, respectively, while the New Saudi/New Cinema category focuses on emerging Saudi filmmakers, offering fresh narratives and creative visions that continue to push the industry forward.

Beyond film screenings, RSIFF offers workshops, masterclasses, and talks that provide both budding and established film professionals with valuable insights into the filmmaking process. The festival's vibrant atmosphere is further enhanced by the presence of international celebrities and cinema heavyweights, promising another star-studded lineup for 2025; previous attendees include Viola Davis, Will Smith, Shah Rukh Khan and more.
