Saudi Arabian Grand Prix wins big for top-end 'off-track' experience

Jeddah's Formula One events have never just been about the asphalt.

Since its debut as an official racing location in 2021, the Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has transformed the Red Sea coastline destination into a high-octane theatre where the world’s fastest street circuit meets global entertainment. This week, that vision was validated on the world stage as the event took home the prestigious "Best Event Spectacle" trophy at the F1 Promoter Awards in London

Officially recognised for its impressive off-track and post-race spectacles, this award serves to confirm that Saudi Arabia is a master at blending international events with world class entertainment to create an experience unlike any other. With regards to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah, the awarding body acknowledged the entertainment experiences for all ages, from the live concert series, and the fan activations, and how each served to enhance the race weekend, alongside the on-track action.

Most notable, the post-race concert series has become famous in its own right, as the adrenalin-fuelled experience continues even when the racing is over. Past editions of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix after-hours entertainment calendar, have seen performances from global superstars like Jennifer Lopez (2025), R3HAB and Axwell (2022) and Travis Scott (2023).

What can we expect from the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2026?

Returning to the Corniche from April 17 to 19, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is slated to be one of the most exciting races of the season. Marking an era of firsts, and a seismic shift for Formula 1, the much-anticipated race will see the grid expand to including 11 teams - including the arrival of Cadillac and Audi to the pit. Of course, these newcomers will join a field of stalwart brands and household names, but each with upgraded and entirely redesigned cars; these cars will be lighter, short and more nimble, precisely engineered for the 27 corners of the demanded Jeddah track.

A new reigning champion will lead the pack in the Saudi race: McLaren’s Lando Norris. Norris is fresh off securing his debut World Title in a nail-biting 2025 finale in Abu Dhabi, in December 2025. Despite his new positioning, Norris is set to face a formidable challenge; defending his crown against the relentless Max Verstappen driving for Red Bull, and his team mate, and the 2025 winner of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri, also driving for McLaren.

With the new regulations levelling the playing field, or rather more aptly, the race track, the 2026 season promises the most unpredictable racing and in turn, pecking order in recent memory.
