Riyadh Fashion Week (RFW) returned to the capital this week.

The second edition of RFW kicked off on Thursday October 17, with a star-studded opening day showcasing a lineup of international and local fashion talent. Held across three iconic venues, the event firmly established the Kingdom's position as a global fashion hub.

Showcasing Saudi Talent

The first day's runway shows highlighted the creative brilliance of Saudi designers Adnan Akbar and Tima Abid. Their collections, inspired by both traditional heritage and contemporary trends, showcased the diversity and talent that Riyadh Fashion Week has come to represent.

With shows taking place at Tuwaiq Palace, Digital City, and JAX District, the opening day of RFW event was a dazzling affair, bringing together a remarkable selection of incredible designers, influential fashion icons and celebrities and was a true celebration of creativity, culture, and couture.

A whole host of renowned personalities graced the front row of these shows, with Thai actress Davika Hoorne and Saudi media icon Lojain Omran leading a roster of celebrities that included fashion influencers, trendsetters and tastemakers from around the globe. This diverse group of attendees reflects the growing international interest in Saudi fashion and its global potential.

With its focus on showcasing emerging Saudi talent, fostering international collaborations, and promoting the Kingdom's rich cultural heritage, RFW is paving the way for a bright future for Saudi fashion.

A Global Stage for Fashion

The return of RFW only further solidifies the Kingdom's position as a go-to destination for fashion followers, and places the capital city at the heart of the global fashion scene. 

The event attracted an exclusive audience of fashion leaders, dignitaries, and international media, including James Fallon from Women's Wear Daily, His Excellency Patrick Maisonneuve, the French Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and Francesca Airoldi from Condé Nast Italia.

Their presence further cemented Riyadh's status as a pivotal location for fashion innovation and cross-cultural collaboration. 

Although there are still some days left of the fashion event of the year, Riyadh Fashion Week 2024 has already, undoubtedly made a significant statement on the global fashion scene. 

When looking to the future of fashion in the region, Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Fashion Commission, remarked: "The opening day of Riyadh Fashion Week perfectly reflects our vision of establishing Saudi Arabia as a leading global hub for fashion and creativity. The incredible talent showcased here, both local and international, highlights the extraordinary potential of our homegrown designers.
