Looking for a quiet, wholesome beach around Jeddah with a focus on comfort and respect and the bonus of having a top-rated diving centre?
Obhur’s La Mer Beach Resort, built around family values, structured access, and a Zen atmosphere, is a private oasis just 30 minutes from the city. Whether you’re going with a day pass, have a long-term rental, or are a member, it’s one of the most trusted and family-oriented coastal spots along Jeddah’s Red Sea shoreline.
Beach Setup and Atmosphere
La Mer’s layout reflects its quest to keep things calm and considerate. The first row of sunbeds is reserved for residents, while the second is allocated to locker members. Day visitors have access to the remaining sunbeds, ensuring everyone has space while maintaining an orderly environment. It’s an intimate and low-key setting, with fewer crowds and a focus on privacy and feeling at ease.
A low-volume house music playlist strums throughout the day, reinforcing the quiet atmosphere. A kids’ pool with a slide gives children a safe space to cool off away from the sea. Other family-friendly touches include the ban on string bikinis and guests being encouraged to walk around with cover-ups.
Family-Oriented Experience
La Mer is guided by family-first values, with policies in place to ensure a safe and respectful environment – particularly for women and families. Single men are not permitted and couples or mixed groups are required to show proof of relation upon entry. Tuesdays are designated as women-only days, with entry priced at 250 riyals. On these days, boys up to the age of five are allowed, but otherwise the beach club becomes a private space for women to relax and unwind.
Dive Centre
One of La Mer’s standout features is its professional diving centre, operated by 17SIXTY – one of Saudi Arabia’s leading names in marine sport. The facility offers PADI-certified courses in both scuba diving and freediving, taught by instructors who speak Arabic and English. Both male and female instructors are available, including Saudis and expats.
From beginners getting certified to advanced divers exploring the Red Sea, the centre provides structured, safety-focused training. It’s a major draw for visitors looking to combine a beach day with a serious dive experience.
Although 17SIXTY’s operations at La Mer are focused exclusively on diving, guests can book a range of additional marine activities such as wakeboarding, wakesurfing, inflatable rides, parasailing, a shark cage experience, and snorkelling trips and boat cruises to Bayada. All these activities take place at 17SIXTY’s primary location in Durrat Alarous but can be coordinated directly from La Mer.
Fitness
The select activities for guests include a padel court available to rent through the Sinjab app, with rackets and balls provided. A gym is also available exclusively to residents, offering a private space for workouts just steps from the beach.
Dining Options
La Mer’s beach bar has a simple, quality-focused menu. Guests can enjoy bites like salads, burgers, pizzas, and pastas, along with fresh juices like mint lemonade, watermelon, and carrot. An extensive ice cream selection is also available, making it easy to stay refreshed throughout the day.
Pricing, Access, and Memberships
La Mer operates as both a private residential destination and a day-access beach. Visitors can purchase a daily pass at SAR 200 on weekdays and SAR 300 on weekends. Long-term options include renting villas, studios, or apartments under yearly contracts, as well as locker memberships that come with added privileges such as priority sun beds.
Children under five enter free, while those aged between six and 10 pay SAR 50 and the older ones, aged 11 to 14, pay SAR 100.
