Portugal joins Saudi Arabia’s expanding e-Visa list

Have a Portuguese passport and thinking about visiting Saudi?

Portugal is the latest country to be added to Saudi Arabia’s e-visa program, making travel to the Kingdom more seamless than ever.

As of 2025, Portuguese citizens can apply for their Saudi tourist visa entirely online, skipping embassy appointments and long waits in favour of a quick digital process. This new and more streamlined visa process is part of Saudi’s broader push to open up to global travellers, especially as the country enters a packed summer season filled with cultural events, concerts, and major sporting moments under the Riyadh Season and beyond.

The updated visa policy doesn’t just apply to Portuguese nationals. Travellers holding valid Schengen, UK, or US visas, or who are residents of the EU, UK, or US, can now obtain a visa on arrival at Saudi entry points — a convenient option for those who meet the criteria.

The move comes as part of a strategic campaign under “Saudi, Welcome to Arabia”, the Kingdom’s official tourism brand. The goal? To make Saudi Arabia one of the world’s most accessible and compelling destinations, blending ancient heritage with contemporary flair.

So whether it’s your first visit or a long-awaited return, getting to Saudi has never been easier (and just in time for summer).
