This report reveals new luxury leaders and high-profile slips in ultra-luxe hospitality

In the upper echelons of global hospitality, consistency, discretion, and visionary management are the ultimate currency.

Every year, Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI) - a global, members-only research and advisory organisation that provides unbiased, data-driven reporting on high-end hospitality - cuts through the marketing noise to deliver the definitive evaluation of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands. Rather than rating individual properties on isolated stays, LTI’s rigorous algorithm examines 134 key touch-points across entire brand portfolios; evaluating everything from corporate ethos, staff training, and management quality to capital investment in new openings and property refurbishments.

The 2026 Results: World's Top Luxury Hotel Brands

With a minimum threshold of eight properties required to qualify for the listing, this year's edition has seen the revered listing expand from 15 to 20 ranked brands. This year's findings highlight both the triumph of enduring excellence and the high cost of operational missteps in the ultra-luxury sector. The expanded 2026 index captures a dynamic and evolving landscape.

Here is how the world's top luxury hotel brands stack up, with last year's positions also noted, and the percentage achievements:

Key Takeaways and Industry Movements

Capell-Bangkok Riverfront

Capella Bangkok

Mandarin Oriental Retains the Crown: For the fourth consecutive year, Mandarin Oriental has claimed the number one position, scoring an impressive 81.1%. The brand continues to set the benchmark for high-end, Asian-inspired hospitality, combining flawless craftsmanship, intuitive service, and strategic property enhancements across its global portfolio.

Dorchester Collection Takes a Leap: Emerging as the biggest riser on this year's listing, Dorchester Collection jumped six places from 2025. Almost breaking the top five from being outside the top 10 last year Dorchester Collection now sits in sixth place for 2026.

Airelles Debuts in Top 10: Airelles, the prestigious French luxury hotel and palace collection has made an exceptional placement in its debut on the list, coming in at 10th place surpassing renowned, previously listed brands such as Rocco Forte and Raffles. Airelles is known for its historic and one-of-a-kind properties and high end gastronomic partnerships with culinary legends such as Alain Ducasse and Cédric Grolet.

Aman Slips Following Data Breach: One of the most notable stories of the 2026 report is Aman’s sharp decline on the rankings, slipping from second position in 2025 to 9th place on the 2026 list. Long celebrated for its ultra-private sanctuaries and intensely loyal clientele, Aman slipped seven places this year. LTI attributed the drop to a significant and unaddressed client data breach earlier in the year, underscoring that digital security and guest privacy are now non-negotiable pillars of true luxury.

Oetker Collection Rises: The Oetker Collection climbed two places to secure the second spot on the listing for 2026. The Oetker Collection is a portfolio of ultra-luxury 5-star properties and private residences, and the body behind some of the world's most sought-after stays such as Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes and Le Bristol in Paris.

Capella's First Time Feature: Breaking the top ten in its debut feature, Capella Hotels has ranked 8th on the 2026 listing, and it comes as no surprise as the brand is much loved for its intimate scale, architectural integration, and hyper-personalised service.

The Methodology of LTI Rankings

This is not merely another favourable hospitality list. Over the course of twelve months, LTI applies a rigorous, proprietary assessment process to evaluate the holistic performance of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands. Rather than judging individual properties on isolated stays, the methodology relies on a sophisticated algorithm tracking 134 key touch-points tailored specifically to the ultra-luxury sector, each weighted toward a maximum attainable score of 4,792.

The evaluation focuses squarely on overarching brand integrity: assessing a group's ability to consistently uphold its core ethos, values, and commitments across its entire portfolio. Furthermore, the assessment measures the caliber of management and frontline staff, alongside the strategic deployment of capital toward the development of new properties and the meticulous refurbishment of existing sanctuaries.
