Mount Everest is considered the highest mountain above sea level on the planet.

Stretching to an elevation of more than 8840 meters, running across the Nepalese-Chinese border, Mount Everest is located in a sub-range of the famed Himalayas.

Nepal is home to eight of the ten highest peaks in the world, and arguably a trip to Mount Everest is a once in a life time experience for a very small percentage of the world's population.

The average time frame to reach Mount Everest Base Camp is approximately 19 days. And, it is said that in total, trek to Mount Everest can take anywhere between one and two months (if not longer) to complete, as the climb is very much dependent on an acceptable weather window, altitude and wait times as the mountain is only acceptable during certain times of the year.

From approximately USD$1200pp for a group of 5, local tour company Magical Nepal will take tourists on a five hour group tour in the air, taking off and landing from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

Each flight aims to take off early in the morning, to take advantage of the clear morning weather window. The flight can be booked as a private charter for approximately USD$4200.

Highlights of the tour will include:

  • View the sights of the Khumbu glacier and breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan Mountains, alongside a number of gorges, waterfalls and lakes nestled in the surrounding mountainous range that are only visible from above
  • Landing in the Mount Everest Base Camp for a once-in-a-lifetime experience
  • A dining experience in the Everest View Hotel which thought of as one of the finest high-altitude hotels in the world
