Taif is often referred to as the City of Roses

With this in mind, its unsurprising that city is famous for its production of strongly scented roses, and hundreds of rose farms throughout the region. Taif is also known for its abundance of citrus and other fruits, including grapes, berries, and pomegranates.  

Situated on the eastern slopes of the Sarawat Mountains, at an altitude of approximately 1,700 meters above sea level, Taif is often nestled in the clouds, offering a serene environment. 

Visiting Taif is an experience that combines nature, history, culture, and a unique atmosphere that leaves visitors with memories that last a lifetime; discover historical monuments, local markets, popular squares, sprawling views, and places of cultural importance.  

Explore history at Shubra Palace  

Built in 1905, the palace boasts impressive interiors crafted out of Carrara marble with intricate lattice windows and balconies. A great way to spend the afternoon in Taif, the palace was once the residence of King Abdulaziz, and later became the abode of King Faisal.

The palace is open for visitors 24 hours a day, and entry is free. Explore around 150 rooms in the palace and marvel at the architectural and historical significance, one that should not be missed when visiting the city of Taif.

Take a cable car to Al Hada Mountain  

Al Hada is tourist destination that offers breath-taking views of the valley and the mountains. The winding path that slopes along the hillside is reminiscent of the ancient zig-zag camel trail, adding to the charm of this place.

Visitors to Al Hada can witness baboons, pink fields, and open spaces that are sure to leave them in awe. As the sun sets on the valley, the mountains on the horizon turn into a beautiful grey ombre.

Additionally, the Taif tourist destination of Hejazistail Al Qar has a water park that visitors can enjoy. Tourists can also hire a cab or travel in private vehicles to reach Al Hada Mountain, or they can use the longest cable car in Saudi running between the mountain and the valley below.

Picnic in the parks of Al Shafa Mountain 

Al Shafa, situated about 35 kilometres southwest of Taif, is a popular tourist destination in the region.

It is the highest mountain in the area and can be conveniently accessed via a well-maintained paved road. The summit of Al Shafa Mountain is home to Mount Daka Park, also known as Jabal Daka, a sprawling 10,000-square-meter area that provides breath-taking views of the local mountain range.

The park is a perfect spot to relax and unwind amidst the serene and scenic surroundings. Tourists can also enjoy the therapeutic benefits of several basic spas located in the vicinity. To get there, visitors can hire a vehicle or drive to reach Al Shafa Mountain from Taif, which should take approximately 40 minutes.

Hike the Al-Wahba Volcanic Crater

A great place to hike, Al-Wahba Crater is a stunning natural wonder - a phenomenon - located in the Hejazi region of Saudi Arabia, approximately 250 kilometres from Taif City Centre.

This volcanic crater sits on the western edge of the Harrat Kishb basalt plateau and is surrounded by numerous volcanic areas. The crater is 2 kilometres in diameter and 250 metres deep, with a mesmerising view of the white sodium phosphate crystals covering the bottom.

It is a must-visit destination for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The Al-Wahba Crater is easily accessible through paved roads, and tourists can hire a cab or use their private vehicle to reach the location.

Take the kids to Saiysad National Park  

Saiysad National Park is a picturesque park located in the city of Taif.

The park is a popular destination for tourists and locals, thanks to its beautiful scenery and numerous recreational activities. While the park has several gates, only one gate is open for entry. This gate is conveniently located between the city and Taif Airport, making it easily accessible to visitors arriving by air.

Saiysad National Park is an ideal place for a group walk, offering scenic trails that wind through lush green landscapes. The park is also a perfect place for a family vacation, with many slides that are sure to keep children entertained.
