If nature’s wonderland existed, it probably would be Mangrove Eco Park.

Nestled along the shores of the Arabian Gulf in Saudi’s Eastern Province, this charming park at Ras Tanura is actually a mangrove forest with a distinct ecosystem. Perfect for a day out with family or friends (or even solo), this is an idyllic spot to lose yourself in the midst of nature – as you traverse a winding overwater boardwalk that cuts through the heart of the grove, ending by the sea.

Stretching over a sprawling expanse of 63 kilometres, the park’s greenery and beautiful blue waters offer a delightful sojourn – combining eco-awareness with relaxation. There are also a number of observation and education points scattered around. Keep your eyes peeled, and you might be treated to the sight of migratory birds (with the help of observation binoculars).

Conceived by Aramco, Mangrove Eco Park is not just a scenic destination; it is an initiative that aims to promote biodiversity, while raising awareness on the importance of protecting the environment and restoring mangrove forests in the Kingdom.

Unique ecosystems, such as this one, play a crucial role in safeguarding coastlines against erosion, nurturing marine life, and outperforming rainforests in carbon absorption. Indeed, throughout the park, you'll find boards explaining the importance of mangrove ecosystems and their pivotal role in combatting climate change.

For a truly enjoyable visit, there are a few things to keep in mind.

It's recommended to avoid the summer heat, plan your trip for the morning or after 3pm. Staying hydrated and applying sunscreen is essential. While you're welcome to bring snacks, remember to keep the park clean by disposing of trash responsibly. And if you have any inquiries or need respite from the heat, the park’s visitors centre is there to assist you.
