Madinah is finally getting a cinema.

Located within the Al Rashid Mega Mall, Empire Cinemas has opened a cinema with eight 2D screens, each with a seating capacity for 80 guests. Additionally, families with young children can enjoy kid-friendly minis screens tailored for little ones aged two to eight.

With cinema showings of the biggest and best of this year's blockbusters, there will be something for everyone, including; Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon and Retribution. For the kids there is Paw Patrol and the newest Frozen movie.

Set to offer a diverse cinematic experience with 15 movies showing in four different languages: English, Arabic, Hindi, and Tamil. For those eager to secure their seats in advance, pre-booking options are available for highly anticipated releases like The Marvels.

Cinema culture was re-introduced to Saudi Arabia in March of 2018, following a previous 35 year period of censorship. At the time, Minister for Culture Awwad Alawwad, said: “This marks a watershed moment in the development of the cultural economy in the kingdom. Opening cinemas will act as a catalyst for economic growth and diversification. By developing the broader cultural sector we will create new employment and training opportunities, as well as enriching the kingdom’s entertainment options.”

Its estimated that Kingdom is now home to 60+ cinemas.
