The nation's capital city of Riyadh has secured its position as host city for the World Expo 2030.

Under the main theme of Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow, Riyadh Expo 2030 will highlight three sub-themes: 'Prosperity for All', 'Climate Action' and 'A Different Tomorrow'. These sub-themes will be represented in on-site pavilions.

Following unsuccessful bids from other host nations such as Italy and South Korea, it was confirmed following a vote by officials in Paris and announced in an internationally televised statement that the 2030 edition of the World Expo event will set to take place in the Saudi Arabian city of Riyadh, from approximately October 1, 2030, through to March 31, 2031.

The decision was made during a private committee meeting where 165 members of the Bureau International des Expositions voted as follows: 119 in support of Riyadh, 29 votes for Busan, South Korea and just 17 in favour of Rome, Italy.

Saudi Arabia's bid was supported internationally by French President Emmanuel Macron, alongside a an estimated 130 other nations including Bangladesh, China, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Jordan, Mauritius, Norway and the United Arab Emirates.

The Kingdom, as the 18th largest economy and fastest-growing economy among G20 countries in 2022, allocated a budget of $7.8 billion to host Expo Riyadh 2030. Throughout the six months of Expo 2030, it is estimated that 40 million visitors will tour the Expo site.

The Expo 2030 site will be shaped like a globe, with pavilions from 226 countries distributed around a natural valley, symbolising the Kingdom's role in fostering global cooperation. Saudi will offer financial support to countries invited to exhibit: in order to build pavilions, create events and employ staff, should it be needed.

Although the event is still seven years away, the Kingdom plans to complete all preparations ahead of schedule, aiming for the site to be ready by 2028.

2030 is already a monumental year in the Kingdom, as the nation and its leaders work to achieve the main pillars of the ambitious Vision 2030 plan.

Vision 2030 serves as the guiding path towards cultivating a dynamic society, prosperous economy, and ambitious nation in Saudi. whilst Vision 2030 has been an ongoing progression of national growth that has become a beacon of international inspiration.

And, with this in mind Riyadh Expo 2030 will provide the perfect platform for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to showcase its remarkable national transformation to the world and engage with other nations and the global public.

With the confirmation last night, it is expected that the alignment of Riyadh Expo 2030 with the Kingdom's master plan, Vision 2030, is set to be synergy in action.
