3 events and exhibitions confirmed for AlUla Arts Festival

The AlUla Arts Festival is a vibrant celebration that highlights AlUla's rich heritage alongside the region's affinity as a cultural hub, showcasing the arts through a number of exhibitions, concerts and events.

Although a number of events occur throughout the year in AlUla in support of arts, culture and local talent, this year's edition of the AlUla Arts Festival will feature a diverse array of events, from groundbreaking and exciting exhibitions and street-art tours to film screenings and captivating performances, the 2024 edition of the festival is expected to be a city-wide extravaganza.

Taking place in various locations across the city, AlUla Arts Festival will run from February 9 to March 2, 2024.

Exhibition dates have not yet been confirmed.

Desert X AlUla

In its third instalment, Desert X AlUla 2024 will aim to bring contemporary visionaries together through art installations. Created by both Saudi and international artists, these pieces will be placed throughout the unique desert terrain of AlUla.

Fostering creative exchange and cultural connections, this edition of Desert X AlUla will remain free and accessible to everyone, aiming to promote inter-dialogue amongst artists, curators, as well as both local and global communities.

Saudi artist Manal AlDowayan will present an interactive project, that will aim to gather narratives from the diverse communities of AlUla. This is set to be a prelude to her groundbreaking commission for Wadi AlFann.

This upcoming cultural hub, will be known as the 'Valley of the Arts,' Wadi AlFann and will permanently host an expansive, site-tailored array of contemporary artworks amidst AlUla's breathtaking desert scenery, from 2026.

More Than Meets the Eye

To be held at the acclaimed and mirrored Maraya, More Than Meets the Eye will be exhibition featuring an exceptional collection of modern and contemporary pieces by Saudi artists will be showcased.

Back by a number of influential Saudi art collectors, the exhibition will be titled 'More Than Meets the Eye,' and will narrate the tales of artists and recent artistic movements. As a precursor to the inauguration of AlUla's contemporary art museum, the exhibition contributes to the pre-opening lineup, highlighting regional and global contemporary art with a focus on the Arab world.
