We all know that Saudi Arabia is a hub for creativity and the arts.

With a wide selection of galleries and centres, the country is spearheading a regional and international arts movement: helping cultivate new and beneficial communities, promoting the creative economy and encouraging residents and tourists alike to visit at the first chance.

We've compiled a list of four must-visit art centres across the country.

Misk Art Institute, Riyadh

Misk Art Institute is a non-profit cultural organization that empowers local artists through providing them with support, expertise, and educational opportunities that allow their creative talents to flourish and blossom.

Through their work, the institute exists solely to support local artists. Aiming to help the artists fulfil their true creative potential whilst creating and sharing an accessible art community for everyone. The Misk Art Institute hosts monthly workshops, panel discussions, and a series of talks that help engage the audience in conversations surrounding contemporary art ideas.

The artistic hub is home to both in-house residencies and international ones hosted in collaboration with other international institutions, which provides artists with the perfect opportunity to focus on their work.

King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture - Ithra, Dhahran

Ithra, or the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture, is a project launched by Saudi Aramco for “the advancement for the public.” The centre positions itself as “a beacon of change in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and as a window to global experiences.”

The centre is a hub for multiple facilities across various media, including the Idea Lab, Library, Ithra Theater, Cinema, Ithra Museum, Children’s Museum, Energy Exhibit, The Great Hall, and the Ithra Tower.

With its various outlets, Ithra is the best place to go-to for a much-needed dose of culture, creativity, and knowledge, where one is sure to absorb the best array of information and leave feeling mentally nourished.

Hayy Jameel, Jeddah

Located in the residential north Jeddah area of Al Mohammdiyyah, Hayy Jameel is a 17000-square-metre creative complex known for its expansive and tall facades.

It was designed by multi-award-winning architectural studio Waiwai and is said to be ushering in a new era of creativity and dynamism into Jeddah, as the city rebrands itself as a hub for the arts.

Hayy Jameel is one reflection of Art Jameel’s commitment to supporting the artistic and creative communities. It is anchored by four Art Jameel programs, including Hayy Arts, Hayy Learning, Hayy Studios, and Hayy Cinema.

The Saudi Centre for Fine Arts, Jeddah

The Saudi Centre for Fine Arts has been in existence for 25 years, and during that time, it has promoted art exhibitions alongside learning new crafts.

The space offers multiple attractions and workshops divided up into male, female, and children’s classes to focus on multiple subjects, including photography, pottery, ceramics, calligraphy, oil painting, drawing and digital imagery.

Staff members are fluent in Arabic and English, creating a safe environment for all to engage, participate and learn about art and the local creatives showcasing at the Fine Arts Centre.
