The Red Sea International Airport is ready to welcome visitors.

On Thursday September 21, a historic milestone was achieved, as the Red Sea International Airport officially commenced operations with an inaugural flight landing, and later departing the brand new commercial airport.

As announced earlier, Saudia, the Kingdom's national airline, hosted the first flights arriving and departing from the Red Sea International Airport.

The inaugural moment unfolded as Saudia Flight SV1571 gracefully touched down on the newly completed runway, marking the beginning of a new era for the airport. This momentous occasion also marked the commencement of a twice-weekly flight service connecting Riyadh to the airline, this significantly enhances the connectivity between the capital city and the Red Sea region.

The flight schedule includes departures from Riyadh International Airport (RUH) at 10:50 am each Thursday, followed by return flights from Red Sea International (RSI) at 1.35 pm.

A second service is available departing RUH every Saturday at 12:50 pm, with the return flight from RSI scheduled for 3:35 pm the same day. This increased accessibility is expected to further boost tourism and economic activities in the Red Sea region.

The Red Sea Group (RSG) unveiled the new branding for RSI, which reflects the airport's distinctive architecture. The brand's iconic design takes inspiration from the bird's eye view of the airport's exterior, signalling a new era of connectivity and travel in the region. With the introduction of these flights and the distinctive branding, RSG aims to position RSI as a prominent gateway to the Red Sea's captivating attractions and destinations.

The maiden flight symbolised a pivotal moment for the airport, which aims to become a prominent gateway to the Red Sea's diverse and captivating destinations. The newly launched service, operating on Thursdays and Saturdays, is poised to promote tourism, trade, and economic activities in the region, offering travellers swift and convenient access to the Red Sea International Airport and its surrounding attractions.
