Saudi Ministry of Culture welcomes the Metaverse and the concept of virtual travel

This month the Ministry of Culture (MoC) unveiled a groundbreaking national initiative, marking the Kingdom's first endeavour into the Metaverse.

A project supported by Generative Media Intelligence (GMI) artificial intelligence, and developed in collaboration with droppGroup, the newly announced initiative aims to introduce the Saudi Heritage Metaverse platform, leveraging Hyperledger Fabric 2.5 blockchain technology to create a revolutionary 'Phygital' Metaverse experience.

This innovative platform will aim to seamlessly merges cultural showcases, performances, and digital innovation, offering users an immersive digital environment enriched with various real-life activities and attractions - meaning that those unable to attend, or looking to see more of Saudi Arabia can interact with the environment and experience local events.

At the heart of the Saudi Heritage Metaverse platform lies a diverse array of cultural offerings, including giving people around the world the chance to experience the captivating History Walk and dedicated sectors showcasing music, art, history, culinary arts, and crafts.

Users can also try their hand at mini-video games and enjoy live streaming of events like the Founding Day Commencement Symphony Concert through the Performance Center.
