With evidence of civilisation dating back millennia and a roster of events that routinely dazzles the Saudi social calendar, AlUla has visitors flocking to it from far and wide. The oasis is dotted with incredible rock formations and ancient structures and art, as well as the traditional mud-bricked houses that make up its Old Town.
And as if these UNESCO-recognised sites and delights aren't enough, AlUla boasts an incredible collection of luxury resorts and hotels, as well as a thriving and creative dining scene that is building quite the reputation in the Kingdom. The Royal Commission of AlUla is pioneering an Oasis to table concept, covering everything from traditional Saudi cuisine to Middle Eastern specialties and international creations.
With so many incredible options it can be tricky to know where to start – don't worry, we've got you covered with a round up of our favourite places to eat in AlUla. Bon appetit!
Entrecote Cafe de Paris
A brand that was first established amongst diners in 1930 in Geneva, Entrecote Cafe de Paris transports you to a world of vintage European charm right here in the desert. The elegant and luxurious design of the restaurant along with its romantic low lighting is the perfect choice for a special occasion. It has fast become the place to see and be seen in the Kingdom. Entrecote's menu keeps it simple and classic – a delicate green salad, your pick of some the finest cuts of steak available, deliciously seasoned and crisp steak frites, and their famed butter sauce to put the final seal of perfection on the meal. Don't bother asking for the recipe of that incredibly rich and moreish sauce – it's been a closely guarded secret from day one. Distract yourself with a sweet something from the dessert menu instead.
Old Town, AlUla, 43562; open daily from 1pm-1am.
Harrat – Banyan Tree
With a fusion menu of both local and international flavours, Harrat is located between the rugged rock faces of the AlUla desert at the luxurious Banyan Tree resort. A multi-sensory experience, Harrat has gorgeous views and the interiors showcase the artwork of local creators. Until late into the evening, beneath a blanket of stars, diners will delight their palates with fresh seafood dishes, pastas and an array of traditional Middle Eastern mezze and fresh grills.
Wadi Ashar, AlUla, 43563; open daily for breakfast 7-11am, lunch 12-4pm, and dinner 6pm to midnight.
Somewhere – Old Town
In the heart of AlUla's beautiful Old Town lies Somewhere – a dining establishment with a relaxed and stylish vibe and a menu packed with Middle Eastern and international favourites. Delight your tastebuds with beetroot rice, wagyu bao buns and tabouli salad while drinking a delicious mocktail. Opt for the outdoor terrace and enjoy a fun evening with friends watching the sun go down over the desert.

Tawlet Fayza – Old Town
Satisfy your cravings for wholesome Arabic cuisine at Tawlet Fayza. Translating to ‘Fayza’s Table’ in English, the restaurant was inspired by the childhood meals served by the founder’s grandmother, Fayza. Located in a refurbished, traditional mud-brick building in Old Town, Tawlet Fayza allows diners to experience traditional, oasis-to-fork, authentic Arabic meals. Dessert here is a must-try – we recommend indulging in the mouth-watering mahalabia sweet milk pudding.
7409 Abu Bakir AlSiddiq, AlUla, 43523; open daily from 4pm to midnight.
