There’s something undeniably special about a well-crafted breakfast — comforting, indulgent, and the perfect way to set the tone for the day ahead.
Gone are the days when breakfast was merely a quick bite to start the day. Today, breakfast dining is an experience in itself, one that embraces culinary artistry, premium ingredients, and an impeccable sense of presentation. From golden, buttery croissants to fluffy pancakes, and from shakshuka to a full English breakfast, the options are as varied as the cultures that inspire them.
Saudi Arabia, in particular, has seen a remarkable rise in breakfast destinations, offering everything from luxurious international buffets to intimate, artisanal cafés.
To help navigate this ever-expanding breakfast scene in the Kingdom, we sat down with Redha Ibrahim, a food blogger whose Instagram page, Redha Morning, has become a go-to guide for breakfast lovers seeking the best experiences across Saudi Arabia.
According to Redha, the breakfast scene in Saudi Arabia has seen rapid growth, with many restaurants offering increasingly sophisticated and diverse morning menus. “There’s more competition now, which means restaurants are going the extra mile to innovate and elevate their offerings. Whether you’re looking for traditional Arabic breakfast or something more international, there’s no shortage of fantastic options.”
We asked some of the questions you might also want to know the answers to.
Redha, why has breakfast become your passion project?
Redha’s love for breakfast stems from childhood memories. “Growing up, my family had a deep-rooted tradition of gathering around the breakfast table, especially on weekends, holidays, and special occasions. It became a ritual, a moment of connection and joy,” he recalls.
This love for breakfast eventually transformed into a personal mission. “I started visiting local cafés and breakfast spots in Al-Ahsa, exploring different flavours and concepts. Over time, I found myself seeking new breakfast experiences daily—whether on workdays, weekends, or even while traveling. That’s when I decided to document my journey on Instagram, reviewing restaurants with detailed insights into food quality, ambiance, and service.”

What makes a breakfast spot exceptional?
According to Redha, a memorable breakfast experience is shaped by three key factors: quality ingredients, diverse menu options, and a welcoming atmosphere.
“A truly great breakfast restaurant must prioritise high-quality ingredients to enhance the flavours of each dish. It should also cater to a range of dietary preferences, from classic breakfast staples to innovative dishes that include vegetarian and gluten-free options. This diversity ensures that every guest finds something they love,” he explains.
When asked if a breakfast-only or breakfast-food orientated cafe could work, the answer is "Absolutely." Redha affirms. “Many restaurants have thrived by focusing exclusively on breakfast and brunch. If a place delivers exceptional food, provides a unique experience, and builds a strong reputation, it can absolutely succeed.”
In your opinion, is coffee an important element of the ideal breakfast experience?
Coffee and breakfast are inseparable. “The rich aroma of coffee is an essential part of the morning routine, whether it’s a simple latte or an expertly brewed single-origin espresso. The best breakfast spots take their coffee game seriously, offering a variety of options, seasonal specialties, and always serving it fresh.”
Continental, Middle Eastern French, English - which is your favourite type of breakfast?
While he appreciates all breakfast traditions, Redha has a special affinity for Eastern cuisine. “It’s not just nostalgia—I genuinely love the depth of flavours and variety in Eastern breakfasts, from freshly baked pastries to hummus, cheeses, eggs in all forms, and hearty meat dishes.”
Tell us about the importance of ambiance, and how it can impact a breakfast experience?
Ambiance, too, plays a crucial role in the breakfast experience. “The setting should be warm and inviting—think cozy tables adorned with fresh flowers, soft morning light streaming through the windows, and perhaps a touch of elegant background music. Friendly, efficient service also makes a huge difference; it’s what turns a good experience into an unforgettable one.”
Creating the right environment is just as important as serving great food. “Comfortable seating, natural lighting, and vibrant colours create an uplifting energy. Thoughtfully designed interiors—whether through art, greenery, or stylish furniture—add to the overall appeal,” he notes. “A well-designed space invites guests to linger, enjoy their meal, and return for future visits.”
