Cake picnics are taking social media by storm, with crowds gathering to sample hundreds of cakes (and share their own) in quaint and delicious festivals around the world. Residents of Riyadh have the chance to bask in sugary goodness on November 22 at 1 pm, as the Riyadh Cake Picnic comes to town.

While the word “picnic” might conjure images of outdoor gatherings, this festival will be staged in a secret indoor venue that organisers are keeping under wraps until tickets are booked. That means you’ll get all the picnic vibes, minus the weather worries. No melting frosting, no collapsing layers — just flawless cakes presented in air-conditioned comfort.

Once inside, visitors can expect tables piled high with homemade cakes, artisan pastries, and beautifully decorated desserts. From rustic loaf cakes to intricate showstoppers worthy of The Great British Bake Off, the event promises to be a feast for both the eyes and the taste buds.

Participants can do more than eat, of course, as the Cake Picnic is all about sharing . Guests are encouraged to bring along their own creations, with a friendly competition to crown the best baker of the day. It’s a chance for home bakers to shine alongside professionals, and for everyone to share in a community-driven celebration of food.

Tickets come in three flavours: SAR 100 for bakers, SAR 200 for unlimited cake tastings, and SAR 50 for children. If you’re planning to settle in for the afternoon, organisers suggest bringing a picnic blanket to complete the experience. Picture yourself lounging with a plate stacked high with cake slices.

Beyond the cakes themselves, the event is about building connections. With Riyadh’s food scene booming and community-led events becoming more popular, the Cake Picnic offers a fresh way for locals and visitors to come together over something everyone can agree on: dessert.
