Restaurant Review: La Petite Maison (LPM), Riyadh

When it comes to fine dining in Riyadh, the options are endless. Yet only a handful of restaurants have earned a far reaching reputation like LPM.

Since opening its doors in London in 2007, LPM has successfully brought the charm of the French Riviera to some of the world's leading cities. Inspired by the cuisine of Nice, the restaurant has built its reputation on simplicity, exceptional ingredients, and authentic Mediterranean flavours. Today, its Riyadh location delivers that same signature experience, making it one of the capital's standout fine dining destinations.

Located beside the iconic Al Faisaliah Tower, LPM enjoys one of Riyadh's most prestigious addresses, offering an experience that begins the moment guests arrive and continues until the very last bite.

Atmosphere & Interior Design

Upon entering the restaurant, the first thing that caught my attention was the collection of vibrant artwork displayed throughout the space. Inspired by the French Riviera, the colourful paintings perfectly complement an interior that balances contemporary elegance with classic European charm, creating a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere.

When I visited on a busy Friday evening, every table was occupied, but the renowned LPM welcome was seamless. A member of the team greeted us with a smile and escorted us directly to our reserved table without delay, reflecting the restaurant's impressive level of organisation and hospitality.

Once seated, I noticed lemons, tomatoes, and a bottle of olive oil placed on the table. At first, I assumed they were decorative touches, but after asking about them, I discovered they were intentionally displayed to represent the philosophy behind LPM's cuisine: celebrating the beauty of fresh, simple ingredients rather than unnecessary complexity. It was a thoughtful detail that immediately introduced the restaurant's identity before the first dish even arrived.

The atmosphere itself strikes a perfect balance. Soft background music adds energy without overwhelming conversation, while the thoughtfully arranged tables provide a comfortable sense of privacy, making the restaurant equally suitable for intimate dinners or gatherings with friends.

The Food

LPM's menu offers an extensive selection of classic French dishes alongside Mediterranean-inspired creations, providing something to suit a wide range of tastes.

Our evening began with the Corn Salad and the restaurant's signature Warm Prawns. The salad was fresh and beautifully balanced, with the acidity and saltiness complementing one another perfectly. The Warm Prawns, served in olive oil, quickly became one of my favourite dishes of the evening. The prawns were exceptionally tender, almost melting in the mouth, while the simplicity of the preparation allowed the quality of the ingredients to shine.

Next came the restaurant's famous Escargots, that is snails to you and I. For many diners, the idea of eating snails can feel intimidating, but that hesitation disappears after the very first bite. Rich in flavour and perfectly cooked, the dish turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of the evening and is something I would genuinely recommend trying, even for first-time visitors.

For the main course, we chose the Lamb Chops, served with aubergine caviar. For me, this was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the entire meal. The lamb was cooked beautifully, remaining incredibly tender and juicy with every bite. Its texture was closer to a premium steak than the traditional lamb chops many are familiar with, while the aubergine caviar added depth without overpowering the natural flavour of the meat.

To finish, the classic Crème Brûlée, one of France's most celebrated desserts. It arrived exactly as it should: a crisp caramelised sugar crust that cracked beautifully beneath the spoon, revealing a smooth, rich custard underneath. The contrast between the crunchy topping and the silky cream created a memorable ending to the meal and easily made it one of the best Crème Brûlées I've had in Riyadh.

Service & Overall Experience

Despite the restaurant being fully booked, the service remained consistently attentive throughout the evening. The staff were welcoming and professional, while our waiter regularly checked in to ensure everything was running smoothly without ever feeling intrusive.

The pacing of the meal was equally impressive. Each course arrived at exactly the right moment, allowing us to enjoy the experience without long waits or feeling rushed. It's a small detail, but one that plays a significant role in elevating the overall dining experience.

Overall, LPM Riyadh delivers far more than an excellent meal. It combines refined French cuisine, elegant surroundings, attentive service, and a genuine appreciation for the finer details that define memorable hospitality. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, planning a romantic dinner, or simply looking to enjoy one of Riyadh's finest dining experiences, LPM successfully transports a piece of the French Riviera to the heart of the Saudi capital.
