Sample the very best steak offerings from around the world – everything from a spicy, vibey Brazilian barbecue to a dimly lit New York-style classic steakhouse – right here in Doha. You’ll find huge slabs of Tomahawk, salted Wagyu, slow-cooked beef on the bone…it’s a carnivore’s paradise and we are here for it. The very best steak restaurants are rarely cheap, but there are plenty of deals here to be had including ‘Tomahawk Tuesdays’, brunch deals and sharing plates. These are some of the very best steakhouses in Doha.
STK Doha
Have your steak served with a view on the top floor of The Ritz-Carlton, Doha – from here you can see out over the Pearl Doha and Arabian Sea (as well as the city’s glowing skyline). If you can peel your eyes away from the view and onto the menu, you’ll find everything from Wagyu with toppings including foie gras and lobster tail, to oysters, lamb shank and even a more casual wagyu burger. There’s a decent wine selection to accompany the food, while the ambience is bustling, upscale and lively, with seriously attentive staff.
Nusr-Et Steakhouse Doha
Huge slabs of meat are served up Salt Bae-style at Nusr-Et, where mouthwatering dishes are the order of the day. Grab a burger or striploin slices as part of a reasonably priced lunchtime special (QAR 160 per person), or settle in for an evening meal and order up a fillet wagyu tenderloin sprinkled in salt or a steak served with a rich butter sauce poured on at the table. The sides are also worth an honourable mention, with truffle croquettes, parmesan fries and a chopped tomato salad on offer. Try the golden baklava for dessert, it’s silly decadent. The decor is upscale and fun – think giant hanging chandeliers, long wooden tables, and slabs of meat shown off at the counter.
Hunters Room & Grill
Tuck into a Porterhouse or Tomahawk steak at this restaurant in The Westin Doha Hotel & Spa. As well as your classic slabs on the grill, you’ll find a meaty menu with a South American twist – think brisket tacos, Argentinean grilled prawns, carnivore platter with chimichurri sauce, and churros for dessert. While this is one for the meat lovers, there are also a number of fish and (shock) vegetarian dishes available – the friendly staff are happy to give recommendations. The surroundings are classic steakhouse (heavy wood accents), but with a lovely floral twist that gives an indoor-outdoor vibe.
The Butcher Shop & Grill
This South African steakhouse serves up prime cuts of meat in a casual fun setting that’s big on chatty ambience. The steaks range from chimichurri salad to bone-in, cheesy rib sandwiches, grain-fed South African steaks, Australia Tomahawks and Wagyu, plus surf-and-turf-style seafood dishes. Starters include a cheesy packed mushroom, chicken liver, and wings, while mocktails and shakes are also on the (lengthy) menu. You can also pick up your own cuts from the onsite butchers to cook up at home. The surroundings are butcher-shop chic, with wood tables, comfy seats and a friendly vibe.
New York Steakhouse
Hit the Marriott Marquis City Center’s steakhouse for Tomahawk Tuesdays, where you’ll find a QAR 645 menu that serves up to three people with a 1.5kg Tomahawk, choice of three sides and sauce, plus non-alcoholic beverages, while the QAR 595 Great Gatsby Brunch is a decadent way to spend your Friday (pick from the butcher’s cart and seafood selection). On other days you’ll find a full a la carte menu that includes oysters, various tartares, surf and turf, and a huge selection of steak. The decor is all dark wood and leather chairs – the perfect slice of a low-lit New York Bar, in Doha.
Ipanema Doha
This Brazilian old-favourite steak chain still packs a punch when it comes to flavour and variety. The star of the show is the churrascaria, which is sizzling cuts of meat carved at the table from a skewer by your very own passadores (that’s meat server to the uninitiated). As well as serving top-notch food, Ipanema lays on a decent dollop of ambience – the Rio Carnival brunch is an upbeat, fun day that brings some serious Friday flavour to Doha, while the Sunday Sabadão Brunch brings live entertainment and great food deals. Surrounds are colourful and funky, there’s a kids’ menu on offer, and the staff are super friendly.
Steak and the City – by Prime
Set in the InterContinental Doha The City, Steak and the City is an upmarket steakhouse complete with large wood tables, art deco chandeliers and patterned glass, and a view into the kitchen where all the magic happens. Here, they rustle up tantalising Chateaubriand, hefty Tomahawk, and classic ribeye, with sides including sweet potato and regular fries, creamed spinach and a rich parmesan truffle mash that’s out-of-this-world good. Don’t fill up too much though – you’ll want to leave room for dessert (trust us and try the chocolate fondant).
Mr. Tailor Steakhouse
There’s a mixture of classic steak and fresh sushi at this elegant fine-dining restaurant with gold-framed classic black-and-white pictures, wood flooring, marble tabletops and deep green tiling. The food is also served with a splash of style – seafood served up in shells on a dry-ice plate, beautiful slow-cooked meat that falls off the bone, and beef cecina held up on a little line with clothes pegs (it shouldn’t work, but it does). The steaks here come in generous portions (think a serious slab of 1000g wagyu Tomahawk) and the sides are similarly decadent (read triple cooked chips, oodles of soft mash, a cheesy creamed spinach).
