Doha may not have a Disneyland, Universal Studios or Harry Potter World, but serious theme‑park fans will be surprised by its world‑record-breaking indoor coasters, ice wonderlands and beachside water thrill zones. These creative, mostly air-conditioned worlds defy the desert heat and offer thrills on their gravity‑defying rides, whether you’re a long term resident looking to escape the summer heat or on a stopover looking for a quick buzz.

Read on for our favourite theme parks in and around Doha for everything from retro‑Venetian charm and rainforest jungle vibes to cartoon‑themed chaos, all offering thrills, chills, gaming zones and serious family fun.

1. Doha Quest

With over 30 rides and experiences, Doha Quest at Doha Oasis, Mushaireb, was the area’s first, and remains its largest, indoor theme park. Its headline attraction is the EpiQ Coaster, a steel‑launched coaster and the world’s tallest indoor roller coaster (reaching 55 metres at its peak). Meanwhile, the Magma Blast ride breaks records for being the world’s tallest indoor drop, starting from an 183ft indoor drop tower that shoots you upward before plummeting free‑fall style. Other crowd‑pleasers include Fly with Flap, a zip‑line strung through the ceiling for about 30 seconds and the Glide with Firnas, a VR flying experience lasting five minutes, where you soar via motion base and stereoscopic visuals.

There are rides for the whole family too, including a classic Pirate Ship swing, a Mini Ferris Wheel, and the smaller Jumpin’ Star mini drop tower (at 20ft high). There is crowd-pleasing fun at the fairground-style Sky Spin ride plus bumper‑cars. For an immersive experience to a different world, Wings of Destiny is a 3D flying‑theater, with wind effects, scents, water sprays, plus cinematic effects. There’s air‑conditioned, futuristic design throughout the park, plus VR zones, simulators and interactive games.

2. Meryal Waterpark

About 20 minutes north of Doha, at Qetaifan Island North, Lusail, Meryal Waterpark is Qatar’s largest waterpark and home to the world’s tallest water‑slide tower. The Rig 1938 is a whopping 85-metres tall with 12 different slides, including the Vertigo, a vertical drop from 76.35 metres, and The Fractionator, which is filled with twists. Buckle up for the Alghazal rollercoaster, one of the newer rides, which opened in June 2024. This classic coaster has four‑person spinning cars, which swirl round a track (no water needed).

Beyond tower thrills, there are more than 50 rides and slides, a 268‑metre lazy river, plus wave pools, a surf simulator, and children’s zones for splashing. Inside the Edutainment Cave, interactive marine‑life exhibits teach while you explore. Get immersive on the VR slides too or relax in a giant cabana seating 6-10 guests on the beachfront. Fuel up at the various cafés and food trucks and rest areas, and don’t forget to check your wet and wild pictures from the day’s slides at the photo shop.

3. Gondolania Theme Park

Set inside the Venetian‑style Villaggio Mall, in the Aspire Area, Gondolania mixes whimsical and retro aesthetics under fully air‑conditioned glass ceilings. This is one of the largest and most diverse parks for family fun, with the star of the show being the surreal Gondolania canal cruise – a graceful ride through man‑made waterways on purpose‑built Venetian gondolas. Adrenaline rides include a small roller coaster, a flume ride, and a drop tower for a quick thrill. Kiddie attractions include bumper cars, Dino Land, Ferris wheel, and boat rides.

You can also visit a 4D cinema, go ten-pin bowling, skate on an Olympic‑sized ice rink, or shoot your buddies in laser tag. There are also arcades and even a children’s salon. Ride fees vary and are paid separately, but entry is free, making it flexible for mixed‑group budgets. The indoor, themed European village aesthetic makes you almost feel like you’re not in the desert and hanging out by its canals is ideal for when Doha’s summer sun gets too fierce.

Angry Birds World

4. Angry Birds World

At Doha Festival City, colourful Angry Birds World brings to life the viral digital game about a flock of flightless birds who attempt to reclaim their eggs from green pigs. Expect rides, attractions, games and live shows in this park for both high‑energy thrill rides, gaming and character interactions. Start at the Super Slingshot, which flings you some 60  metres into the air in a giant bird‑shaped capsule, then ride the zip lines, and take to the go‑kart tracks themed as Angry Birds Go!

The whole family can bounce on trampolines, cruise in bumper boats, and battle it out in a laser‑tag arena, or play many arcade games. The whole place spans about 17,500 m², split between indoor climate‑controlled games and an outdoor adventure playground for older kids or evening visits.

Jungle Zone

5. Jungle Zone

Jungle Zone, in Hyatt Plaza Mall, Al Waab St, recreates a hyper-real jungle rainforest indoors complete with animatronic wildlife, lush foliage and themed sounds and is one for those with smaller children in tow. Less about extreme thrills and more about family fun, you can compete to win prizes at the classic carnival games, ride the indoor water ride or 7D Dark Ride, smash into your mates on the bumper cars, or test your vertigo on high‑ropes course with a zip‑line.

There are also trampolines and arcade stands, plus a soft play with slides, climbing frames and ball pits for smaller children. Book a birthday party room for special occasions and keep an eye on the event calendar for magic shows.
