Liverpool forward Darwin Núñez is officially heading to Riyadh, having signed with Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal in a high-profile transfer deal. The 26-year-old Uruguayan striker will join the team during their pre-season training camp in Germany, under the leadership of new coach Simone Inzaghi.

Al Hilal has agreed to an initial fee of $62.1 million for Núñez, with performance-based add-ons potentially raising the total to $76 million. The forward is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Saudi Pro League side, as the club continues to strengthen its squad with international talent.

Núñez, who netted 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool, had a mixed 2024–2025 season, starting only eight Premier League matches despite the team’s overall success. His departure marks a new chapter both for the player and for Liverpool, as the club undergoes a squad reshuffle under newly appointed manager Arne Slot. The Premier League side has already signed Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz in preparation for the upcoming season.

Al Hilal’s acquisition of Núñez is the latest in a series of moves positioning Saudi Arabia as a global football hub, with the country set to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034.
