Announced in 2019 and launched as part of the Kingdom's ambitious Vision 2030 initiative, Sports Boulevard will be a sprawling project aiming to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for residents and visitors alike.

Sports Boulevard is slated to become the world's go-to destination for various aspects of a 'good life' including exercise areas, entertainment zones, and immersive cultural experiences.

The project aligns with Vision 2030, aiming to ensure a better quality of life through its facilities and amenities spread across its eight zones, featuring a range of sports and activities designed in a modern and innovative way. This ambitious project offers a unique blend of sports, culture, and recreation, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a healthy and active lifestyle.

What Makes Sports Boulevard Special?

Upon completion, Sports Boulevard will be one of the longest, linear continuous sports paths in the world, stretching a length of approximately 135 km. It will connect the capital from east to west, providing visitors with access to 50 locations and facilities for various sports.

Sports Boulevard includes spaces for performing arts, an outdoor cinema, and dedicated investment zones for commercial opportunities. Additionally, a number of hotels, restaurants, cafes, and outdoor spaces will be built along the sports path, allowing visitors to enjoy recreational atmospheres in a setting that fosters social connections.

The project fosters a sense of community and social interaction, providing opportunities for people to connect and participate in shared activities. With this in mind, several amenities have been confirmed including a dedicated cycling path for amateurs and professionals, an equestrian centre and horse arenas, various open green spaces with play areas and sporting facilities, as well as sites and stages for performances and events. 

What are the Eight Zones of Sports Boulevard?

These eight zones will each provide a unique opportunity to promote and embrace a healthy lifestyle, by offering residents and visitors a diverse selection of recreational areas and options in a contemporary and attractive setting. They will feature distinctive destinations and prominent architectural landmarks in Riyadh.

Wadi Hanifa Zone

The Wadi Hanifa Zone includes dedicated pathways for pedestrians, amateur and professional cyclists, and horse riders. It features seven stops with rest areas and spaces designated for bike maintenance, as well as various investment zones to serve visitors.

The Arts Zone

Designed for art and culture enthusiasts, the Arts Zone is rich with centers, museums, libraries, and studios. It will include numerous green and open spaces, unique art installations, artists' residences, spaces for workshops and performances, and lands designated for private sector development.

Wadi Al-Yassen Zone

The Wadi Al-Yassen Zone will serve as a hub for a water treatment station and a low-level water channel surrounded by green spaces. The water from the channel is continuously recycled and used in water fountains and natural cooling for the area. This zone includes pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, bridges, shaded play areas for children, a recreational boating area, multiple sports fields, and picnic zones.

The Entertainment Zone

The Entertainment Zone features a connected bridge for professional riders and a track for amateur cyclists. It includes amphitheaters, a complex for cinematic and theatrical performances, and an outdoor cinema. It also offers playgrounds for children, natural hill-shaped parks, and well-equipped open spaces.

Sports Zone

The Sports Zone houses several sports facilities, including a sports tower surrounded by numerous stadiums and training halls.

Wadi Al-Suli Zone

The Wadi Al-Suli Zone is distinguished by its proximity to several prominent landmarks, such as Binban Wild Park and Durat Al-Riyadh. It offers trails for amateur and professional cyclists and includes 11 stations to serve cyclists and visitors, featuring rest areas and various investment spaces to cater to the needs of the zone’s visitors.

Environmental Zone

The Environmental Zone is characterised by agricultural areas and production fields, including greenhouses for developing seeds and agricultural products and producing organic foods. It also features open spaces for picnics and a culinary education centre.

Sports Sand Park

Stretching over 17 million square meters in the sandy area southeast of King Khalid International Airport, the Sports Sand Park is adorned with Najdian flowers that represent the authentic Najd heritage. It includes trails for horses, pedestrians, hiking, mountain biking, and BMX.
