Shura Links is Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole island golf course, a par 72 masterpiece designed by acclaimed golf course architect Brian Curley.

Saudi's first golf course to be set on its own island, the championship-level golf experience will invite golfers to play a Links-style course set against a stunning marine backdrop. Entering a new era of sport, this newly opened, one-of-a-kind course is expected to draw interest from golf enthusiasts across the GCC, and from around the world, Shura Links is officially in its soft opening phase.

A unique design, and the first of its kind in the Kingdom, Shura Links is a pioneering project, which has been developed by Red Sea Global (RSG). The design philosophy behind the course balances strategic challenge with playability, ensuring a rewarding experience for professionals and amateurs alike.

Shura Links establishes a new benchmark for golf in the region, offering the international audience a unique blend of luxury hospitality, world-class golf design, and stunning coastal scenery, confirming Saudi Arabia's arrival on the elite golf map.

Design

The 18-hole championship golf course is distinguished by its naturalistic aesthetic, featuring wide, forgiving fairways that encourage ground-game creativity.

It measures 7,400 yards from the championship tees, with the capacity to extend beyond 7,700 yards for top-tier competitions. Other key design elements of the course includes large, contoured greens with backstops and feeder slopes, as well as intentionally bold bunkering that seamlessly blends into the surrounding white sand dunes.

Signature holes, such as the dune-framed par-threes (Nos. 6 and 15), will offer golfers dramatic views and allow play directly toward the Red Sea.

The iconic clubhouse, designed by Foster + Partners, is a destination in itself. The design of the clubhouse adheres to Shura Island's overarching "Coral Bloom" concept (also developed by Foster + Partners), which takes inspiration from the incredible flora and fauna found in Saudi Arabia's unique coral reefs. This cohesive design-thought ensures the clubhouse blends seamlessly with the island's pristine natural environment, whilst also echoing the aesthetic of the other main buildings.

Sustainability is integrated at the core of the design of Shura Links, the course and its well-considered layout prioritises environmental conservation through a strategic design that limits maintained turf to just 20% of the 140-hectare site, ensuring the preservation and re-wilding of the island’s natural environment.

The course developers and its caretakers will work with hi-tech systems that will monitor and enhance water conservation and environmental preservation. With this in mind, the Shura Links course uses Platinum TE Paspalum, a drought- and salt-tolerant grass, supported by precision irrigation and soil sensor technology to minimise water consumption, allowing the course to remain lush and vibrant while drastically reducing its ecological footprint.

The entire island has been designed with regenerative tourism at its core, again centred around the striking Foster + Partners-designed 'Coral Bloom' concept.
