Saudi Arabia’s Art Bridges programme is back, and it’s giving local creatives the chance to pack their bags and take their talent overseas. Run by the Visual Arts Commission, the initiative is designed to connect Saudi artists with the wider world, offering cultural exchange experiences in four countries over the next year.
The 2025–2026 edition kicks off in Scotland from 22 to 27 September in partnership with British Council Scotland, followed by Japan from 31 October to 7 November, South Korea from 19 to 27 November, and Spain from 2 to 9 March 2026. Each location comes with its own focus: in Japan, artists will explore how the environment shapes creative practice, South Korea will dive into identity and community, and Spain will highlight heritage and collaboration.
Expect more than just gallery tours. Each residency includes visits to cultural institutions, workshops, artist studio meet-ups, and conversations with influential figures in the local art scene. It’s a hands-on way for Saudi creatives to share their work, exchange ideas, and build connections across continents.
Applications are now open, but the competition will be fierce. Participants must be over 21, have at least five years’ professional experience, a strong portfolio, fluent English, and the commitment to join the full programme. The deadline is 21 August for Japan, and 31 August for South Korea and Spain.
