This November sees Dammam welcome an exciting new addition to its skyline: Global City Dammam.
A sprawling entertainment and cultural destination, inspired by Dubai's much loved Global Village, Global City Dammam will be located on Dammam Island. The location was carefully chosen to capitalise on the Eastern Province’s location overlooking the Arabian Gulf and facilitate easy access from surrounding cities. Faisal Al-Zahrani, a spokesperson for the mayoralty, described the initiative as a major strategic step for the region. He explained how the Global City would raise the quality of life and place the Eastern Province among the most important tourist and investment destinations in the Kingdom and beyond.
Slated to open by the end of November 2025, the new seasonal entertainment destination is expected to run for several months. This year, it is expected to run throughout the winter period, until April 2026. It is expected that Global City Dammam will become an immersive family-friendly entertainment destination, will return every year during the winter season.
All the Details
The first phase (slated to open by the end of November 2025) will bring together 16 country-themed pavilions, a floating restaurant on an artificial lake, an open-air theatre for 10,000 spectators, and zones especially set aside for water and electronic games. Here, visitors will be treated to an immersive experience of world cuisines, cultural exhibits, and interactive entertainment-all under one roof.
The initial investment for this phase alone is approximately SR200 million, whereas the full project exceeds SR600 million. The size reflects the economic value the project brings to the Eastern Province, strengthening its growing role in the Kingdom’s tourism and investment sectors.
Situated between Dammam and Qatif along Abu Hadriyah Road, the site was selected with due to its accessibility. More than 600,000 square meters will define the project, anchored by a 240,000-square-meter artificial lake in the region that will be surrounded by recreational spaces, restaurants, and open-air event areas.
Family Friendly Entertainment Destination
Once opened, Global City Dammam will be more than just a new attraction; it is poised to become a cultural destination, an ultimate family entertainment landmark, and a lively place of congregation for locals and international visitors alike, in full adherence with Saudi Vision 2030 of enhancing the quality of life and building world-class cities.
The Global City also represents a look into how the Eastern Province is embracing a more cosmopolitan identity. Merging cultural experiences from around the world with modern entertainment and leisure to create a space where visitors feel connected to both local and international cultures in one visit.
It's not just about sightseeing-it's about offering an immersive experience that combines learning, play, and social interaction in a way that's rare in the region.
Global City Dammam will appeal to everyone, from families looking for a weekend day out to tourists desiring a unique cultural experience, and it promises experiences that are as interactive as they are memorable.
Away from the main attractions, there are a few places that have a character all their own:
- Light Festival: Once the sun goes down, you catch sight of lanterns everywhere-bold Chinese reds here, detailed Middle Eastern patterns there, and plenty of colours in between.
- House of the World: Dedicated for countries who do not have a full pavilion, you will find everything from crafts to artwork and creative products
- The Carnival: If all you want to do is have fun, this is your place. Ferris wheel views over Saihat Lake, bumper cars and snack stalls.
- Events and performances: Different artists would perform throughout the season. With a variety of events and performances, expect musical night, theatre shows, and cultural dances.
