The Middle East is about to get even more immersive entertainment. Following the buzz around the upcoming Sphere Abu Dhabi, plans are now in motion to bring additional Sphere venues to the region.
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) has signed a deal securing exclusive rights to build and operate Sphere venues across the Middle East for at least a decade after Sphere Abu Dhabi’s debut. According to Billboard, the agreement also includes options to extend the franchise for up to two more ten-year terms. DCT will fund construction while Sphere Entertainment Group brings its operational expertise, setting the stage for some of the most technologically advanced entertainment spaces in the world.
The Las Vegas Sphere, which inspired the Abu Dhabi project, is already a record-breaker. Standing 112 metres tall and 157 metres wide, it features the world’s largest spherical structure and a jaw-dropping 16K-resolution wraparound LED screen. Inside, it can host up to 20,000 guests, offering concerts, shows, and immersive events on a scale unlike anything else.
Sphere Abu Dhabi will match its Vegas counterpart in scale and specifications, with seating for up to 20,000 people and the same cutting-edge LED technology. If it delivers the same wow factor, the concept could soon expand to cities like Riyadh, Jeddah, and beyond, bringing a new level of live entertainment to the region.
