Monkey Tale Beach Club
Lounge in a cabana by the pool during the day, dance on the beach to DJs spinning tunes after the sun goes down at this 15,000-square-metre beachfront club at the Grand Hyatt at West Bay Lagoon. The vibe is boho chic, and indexes heavily on plush seating (we like). Order up local mezze, bar bites and seafood, served with a freshly mixed drink. Look out for deals on different days of the week (oyster Tuesday is a highlight).
SUSHISAMBA Doha
This beach club has some serious wow factor – book into one of the giant funnel-shaped wicker cabanas dotted around the layered pool area, or snag one of the in-pool loungers and get your feet wet. There are views over the Arabian Gulf (natch), and the whole area turns into a low-lit twinkling dream when the sun goes down. Food comes in the form of SUSHISAMBA’s bites menu (the taquitos are delicious), while there’s an extensive cocktail list. Nights are all live music, pool party vibes and dancing ‘til you drop.
La Mar Beach
This luxury beach club at the InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa is all chilled vibes, unparalleled views over the water and simple, chic decor (woven beach tepees with sink-into cushions? Yes, please). Sip on refreshing drinks, order up some fresh ceviche, grilled seafood and nibbles, and take a stroll along the endless sand beach. The soundtrack is chilled vibes that turn up after the sun hits the deck, and the weekend lineup includes live entertainment.
Doha Sands
Follow the crowds to Doha Sands beach club in West Bay, where cute little thatched umbrellas shade loungers on pristine sand. There’s free water on arrival, plus a beach bites menu and food available from little kiosks on the private beach. Here you’ll also find DJs spinning tunes, and a serious helping of party vibes (the nights are more beach club than beach bar). The only downside is that it does get busy – arrive early if you want one of the coveted loungers or a cabana.
Doha Beach Club
For family fun, head to Doha Beach Club (formerly B12 Beach Club), where the kids will dig the brightly coloured giant squishy beach cushions and the huge fronded shades. Adults can sit at the outdoor restaurant while the kids play in the playground next to it (well-planned bliss). Bag a cabana and swim in the sea, try out beach volleyball or dance on the sand to DJ tunes as the sun goes down – there’s a little bit of something for everyone.
Bagatelle Beach Club
Let the vibes at Bagatelle take you from day to night at this upscale, trendy beach club. Kick the party off with a pool day, and order up some beautifully crafted drinks, then dance your way into the evening as the sun sets over Al Maha Island. There’s live music, DJs, beach bites and a fun crowd. There’s also a ladies’ day once a week, complete with drinks deals, and excellent table service, so no need to queue at the bar for food and drinks.
