With world famous architecture, beaches, nature and a growing reputation for international sporting events – from Formula One to football – visitors could be forgiven for thinking that Abu Dhabi is a place where most of your holiday will be spent outdoors

But the soaring summer temperatures alone mean that for at least three months of the year, locals and visitors alike look for activities that they can do indoors, amid the comfort of air conditioning. And the emirate has plenty to offer, from serene art galleries to immersive aquariums, with many attractions aimed firmly at the younger generation.
