Shop up a storm as a self-care session or treat the whole family to a selection of souvenirs with our shopping guide to Abu Dhabi.
The Galleria
Known for its high-end brands, upscale restaurants, entertainment and seafront views of the Arabian Gulf, The Galleria is perfect for anyone in search of a luxurious shopping experience. Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Dior, among many other luxury brands, can be found here. There are also frequent live events and exhibitions focusing on fashion, art and culturally dynamic performances. If you need a break from the luxury whirlwind, head to the in-house Vox Cinema to catch a good film, rest and relax, before venturing back into the sleekly designed environs of Abu Dhabi’s preeminent shopping destination.
Marina Mall
One of the city’s oldest retail institutions, Marina Mall has long boasted an expansive selection of fashion, accessories, home and beauty stores. A quintessential lifestyle destination, there’s also a great selection of restaurants, many of which also overlook the pristine waters of the Arabian Gulf. VOX Cinema offers luxurious leather loungers and food service while you catch the latest releases. The mall is aptly named for its location on Al Kasir, an island across from the Emirates Palace, and features an innovative circus tent-inspired structure reflective of a caravan tent in the desert.
Abu Dhabi Central Market
One of Abu Dhabi’s oldest addresses, the Central Market, which was renovated by leading international architectural firm Foster + Partners, continues to be one of the go-to places for gathering and shopping in the capital. Encompassing scenic views of the city and the Arabian Gulf, the architecture incorporates references to traditional Arabian design featuring unique, dark wood paneling akin to mashrabiya-style glass windows. Connected to the World Trade Centre Mall, this souk-like marketplace has a variety of shops offering traditional goods such as intricate lamps, home decor and local spices. This is a must-visit place in the city for a taste of local life.
The Souk at Qaryat Al Beri
Offering a more traditional upscale experience, this souk is part of the Shangri-La Hotel in Abu Dhabi’s Khor Al Maqta area – a contemporary model of a traditional Arabian market. Constructed over more than 6,000 square meters and located between the Maqta and Mussafah bridges, the souk offers a fusion of Arabian architecture and contemporary design and has various boutiques offering local souvenirs, fashion apparel, perfumes, antiques and carpets.
