Your guide to spending Eid at the Islamic Arts Biennale

The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 in Jeddah is ushering in Eid al-Fitr with a cultural extravaganza unlike any other. Hosted at the Western Hajj Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport, the event will feature two days of immersive festivities on the third and fourth days of Eid, blending tradition, artistry, and community spirit.

This year’s celebrations are inspired by the warmth and nostalgia of “Grandmother’s House,” a theme designed to evoke cherished memories of family gatherings, hospitality, and Eid traditions passed down through generations. The space will be transformed into a vibrant hub where visitors of all ages can relive the essence of Eid in a setting steeped in heritage and culture.

What to expect

One of the highlights of the event is a traditional souk-inspired market, where visitors can browse an array of artisanal crafts, textiles, and handmade goods that reflect the rich artistic traditions of the Islamic world. Whether it's intricate embroidery, handwoven baskets, or delicately painted ceramics, the marketplace will showcase the craftsmanship that has defined Islamic art for centuries.

Eid at the Biennale is designed to be a multi-generational celebration, offering entertainment and activities for the entire family. This includes photo zones with specially designed backdrops, over ten different traditional and modern games, a coloring wall for kids full of Eid-themed designs, and a henna art station.

The Key to the Kaaba: A Rare Exhibit

A must-see attraction at this year’s Biennale is the rare display of the key to the Kaaba, a historic artifact revered across the Islamic world. Measuring 4.2 x 3.2 x 29.9 cm and crafted from copper and silver, the key is more than just an object—it is a symbol of faith, legacy, and the continuity of Islamic heritage. This particular key is one of only two known to bear the name of its maker.

The Islamic Arts Biennale 2025 is not just a seasonal event. Under the theme “And All That Is In Between,” the Biennale features over 500 historical and contemporary artworks, spanning calligraphy, architecture, textiles, and more.

In addition to the Eid festivities, visitors can explore a dynamic lineup of panel discussions, film screenings, and artist meet-and-greets, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy beyond the holiday.

The Islamic Arts Biennale runs until May 25, 2025. Don’t miss the chance to experience this extraordinary fusion of heritage and creativity during the Eid festivities.
