There’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush you get from being on a rollercoaster ride at top speed. Your hair is blowing in the wind, your heart is pumping, and you’re able to glimpse the world around you as you soar high above the streets below. Now picture all that with incredible views of the Red Sea Coast as the sun goes down. From themed adventure rides to aqua parks and more, here are some of our favourite theme parks and kids' adventure playgrounds in and around Jeddah that you can enjoy with the whole family in tow.
1. Adventure World
Located inside Jeddah’s Flamingo Mall, this adrenaline-charged theme park aptly titled Adventure World is a great place for children and families to go for excitement while also escaping the summer heat. It’s one of the most popular kids’ play areas in Jeddah. It features a miniature roller coaster, colorful bumper cars, a carousel, and even a Jungle Coaster. This theme park is an ideal place to go for parents in need of a break while the kids enjoy numerous adventurous, jaw-dropping attractions.
2. City Walk
This exciting temporary theme park opens annually during Jeddah Season, a one-of-a-kind celebration that features a variety of concerts, events, activities and more. Every summer, the theme park is jam-packed with fun rides and experiences in multiple areas such as spooky Horror Village, water games at Splash, and arcade games at Anime Village. There’s fun to be had for everyone, as well as some delicious nibbles and drinks at restaurants and cafes also in the area.
3. Cyan Waterpark
Cyan Waterpark is the OG waterpark and was the top choice for families in the Kingdom before the spectacular arrival of Aquarabia, but it's still an impressive option. The water is chilled, which is a blissful relief in the hot summer, and there are both high-octane and relaxed areas to have fun in, including slides, flumes, wave pools, and a lot of splashy rides.
Older kids will enjoy the thrill of the Spinner and Black Hole, while those after a more laid-back experience can enjoy floating along the Lazy River. There are restaurants and cafes on-site, and lots of family-friendly changing facilities. Sundays and Wednesdays are for women only, and there is dress code guidance for the whole family – check their website for details before you go. Buy an express pass in advance to beat the queues.
4. Al Shallal Theme Park
We've saved the best for last – Jeddah’s largest amusement park, stationed within an area that spans 60,000 square meters, Al Shallal is the place to get your adrenaline pumping and your excitement levels to their peak. There’s something here for all ages, from fun roller coaster rides, bumper cars, and teacup twirls to something more unique, like the Amazon Log Ride, Power Surge, and Sling Shot.
When you need to catch your breath, head to the Ferris Wheel and enjoy breathtaking views of the Red Sea or meet friends and family at the bowling alley. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, there are four international restaurants to choose from – plenty of options for picky eaters. This is the ideal place to lose yourself in joy and excitement while connecting with loved ones.
