Following World No. 1 Jannik Sinner’s decision to prematurely end his 2026 season due to a persistent knee injury, tournament organisers in Riyadh have named 20-year-old American sensation Learner Tien as his replacement.
The 2026 Six Kings Slam in Riyadh has undergone a major lineup change following the withdrawal of two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner. Organizers confirmed that 20-year-old American Learner Tien will take the World No. 1’s spot in the six-man exhibition scheduled for several days between October 21 and 24.
Sinner announced he was shutting down his 2026 campaign to undergo targeted medical treatment and rehabilitation for inflammation in his right knee. Despite an outstanding season that saw him capture the Wimbledon title and five ATP Masters 1000 trophies, the Italian opted to prioritise long-term physical recovery over defending his back-to-back crowns in Riyadh and the upcoming ATP Finals.
In his place steps Learner Tien, one of the most compelling breakout stars of the 2026 ATP Tour season. Currently ranked No. 17 in the world, the California native makes his inaugural appearance at the high-stakes Saudi showcase.
Tien is set to assume Sinner’s place in the draw, where he is scheduled to face Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the opening round. However, organisers remain on high alert as De Minaur's participation is also subject to medical evaluation following an adductor strain sustained at the China Open.
The remainder of the high-caliber field remains intact, with Grand Slam champions Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic anchoring the exhibition alongside Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz. Held annually as part of the broader Riyadh Season lineup, the Six Kings Slam offers a spotlight for the world's elite players, now providing Tien with a high-profile platform to close out his milestone year.
