The Museums Commission has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kuwait’s Tareq Rajab Museum, marking a significant step toward strengthening cultural collaboration and expertise exchange in the fields of museum development and exhibitions. This partnership further solidifies the long-standing cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The agreement was signed by Ms. Mona Khazindar, Advisor to the Ministry of Culture, representing the Museums Commission, and Mr. Ziad Tareq Rajab, Director of the Tareq Rajab Museum. It outlines several key areas of cooperation, including research exchange, the loaning of artefacts, and temporary exhibitions designed to enhance cultural content and highlight the richness of both collections.

A joint working group will oversee the implementation of these initiatives, fostering knowledge-sharing and expertise development across both institutions.

Speaking on the significance of this partnership, Ms. Mona Khazindar emphasised that the memorandum reflects the Museums Commission’s dedication to forming strategic alliances with prestigious private museums in the Arab world. She highlighted the Tareq Rajab Museum’s reputation as a leading institution for Islamic art and heritage, noting that this collaboration will serve as a catalyst for cultural dialogue and exchange across the museum sector.

Echoing these sentiments, Mr. Ziad Rajab expressed his pride in this partnership, describing it as an important milestone in connecting museum experiences across the Gulf region. He underscored the role of this collaboration in expanding the presence of Islamic heritage in specialised exhibitions, contributing to the development and enrichment of museum content for both parties.

This agreement aligns with the Museums Commission’s broader strategy to elevate Saudi Arabia’s cultural presence, while reinforcing regional partnerships in support of Saudi Vision 2030’s objectives.
