A wooden walkway stretches across blue waters toward a small island. At the far end, a thatched lookout stands at the edge of white sand, framed by palms and a sunlight-brushed sky.
This is Thuwal Private Retreat, an exclusive-use destination set within a coral archipelago in the Red Sea.
Here, every element has been considered for how it feels, underfoot, in the hand, and against the breeze. This is a place designed to become part of its surroundings; a study in texture, where natural materials meet refined simplicity. Light-touch design and eco-minded choices keep the island as untouched as it feels, with space for no more than 12 adults and three children to preserve that sense of calm.
Thatched roofs crown villas defined by clean lines and soft geometry. Inside, wood-panelled ceilings rise above light-filled spaces, where woven elements and neutral-toned furnishings match the tones just beyond the glass. Beds and sofas are dressed in sandy linens, ceramics and minimalist fixtures add grounding detail.
Each of Thuwal’s three One-Bedroom Beach Pavilions comes with an open-air bath and a private walled terrace, where sunlight filters through palm trees. In the Master Beach Villa, sea air softens the wood beneath your feet as you step onto a sun-drenched deck, then slip into your own pool. Whichever villa you choose, bedrooms feel layered with texture: rattan, wood, cotton, woven reed.
Outside, the Red Sea hums. A pair of loungers on the jetty invites a pause. Steps away, the Diwaniya lounge stands partially over water, its evening glow drawing you in for sunset drinks and unhurried conversation, the kind you hope stretches into the night.
