In a bold stride toward redefining luxury hospitality in Saudi Arabia, Aman Group has announced Amansamar, a new resort and residential enclave in Wadi Safar.
Located near Diriyah’s UNESCO World Heritage Site and within reach of Riyadh’s cultural and commercial core, and importantly the King Khalid International Airport, Amansamar is poised to become a landmark destination for those seeking privacy, elegance, and a deep connection to place.
The name Amansamar draws from two traditions: “Aman,” meaning peace in Sanskrit, and “Samar,” an Arabic word evoking the evening ritual of storytelling among family and friends. Together, they form a concept rooted in tranquillity and shared experience. The acacia tree, symbolic of resilience and serenity, will serve as a visual and thematic anchor throughout the property, with its presence woven into the landscape and architectural language.
Designed by Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects, although with the opening date not yet specified, the resort’s aesthetic is a refined interpretation of traditional Najdi design, echoing the traditional buildings of the UNESCO-recognised and historic Diriyah area.
Clean lines and open volumes are paired with natural textures, subtle geometric patterns, and metallic accents that echo the desert’s palette. The architecture respects the contours of the escarpment, allowing the resort to emerge organically from the terrain without imposing on it. This approach reflects a broader commitment to honouring the region’s heritage while embracing contemporary sophistication.
The 80-key Aman hotel will offer guests a sanctuary of calm, with expansive suites and curated experiences that reflect the brand’s ethos of discretion and serenity. Beyond the hotel, Amansamar introduces Aman’s first branded residences in the Kingdom, a limited collection of ultra-luxury villas and private estates. Each home, ranging from five to six bedrooms, is set on a generous plot starting at 9,000 square metres. Designed and positioned to capture natural light and offer sweeping desert views, these Aman-branded residences will offer a rare blend of seclusion and grandeur that hasn't yet been seen in Saudi Arabia.

Residents and guests alike will enjoy access to a suite of amenities that elevate everyday living. These include an Aman Spa featuring hammam and banya houses, hydrotherapy facilities, multiple pools, and a Racquet Club. Families are thoughtfully catered to with a Kids’ Club and dining venues that celebrate regional and international cuisine. Owners will also gain entry to the Residence Club, a private retreat for wellness and leisure, and receive invitations to join the global Aman Club, with locations in Tokyo, New York, and Bangkok.
Amansamar is part of the wider development of the Wadi Safar, which integrates cultural enrichment and outdoor pursuits such as polo and golf into the desert environment. With the Royal Signature Golf Course designed by Greg Norman and world-class equestrian facilities nearby, the destination will offer visitors a lifestyle that is both active and relaxed.
Construction is underway at Amansamar, will be the latest addition to Aman Group’s expanding footprint across the Middle East. The brand’s regional portfolio already includes Janu Diriyah and Aman AlUla in Saudi Arabia, Aman Dubai and Janu Dubai, as well as Amangati, a 183-metre luxury yacht created in collaboration with Cruise Saudi, due to launch Mediterranean voyages in 2027.
With several future developments on the horizon, Aman Group continues to advance its vision of deeply rooted, high-end hospitality shaped by culture and place.
