Just a 45-minute flight from Bangkok, Koh Samui island immediately feels like another world.
The island’s tropical charm is apparent from the moment you land, with an open-air airport surrounded by lush nature that sets the tone for a stay rooted in serenity and tropical elegance. At Vana Belle, a Luxury Collection Resort, this sense of tranquility is elevated — grounding welcome rituals, breathtaking ocean views, and Thai hospitality set the tone for an experience that will soothe the soul and slow down time.
Straight forward access to e-Visas and extended tourist stays of up to 90-days for Saudi visitors, and direct flights from both Jeddah and Riyadh with Saudia, coupled with the affordability for Middle Eastern, Thailand more accessible to Saudi tourist than ever before. Since the lifting of the 30-year long travel ban between the two countries in March 2022, the south-east Asian destination has become increasingly popular vacation location.
And as soon as I landed, I could sense I was about to experience something special.
Location & Getting There
Less than fifteen minutes by car from Koh Samui's open-air airport, arriving at Vana Belle felt like entering a little pocket of peace.
The name Vana Belle reflects the resorts' essence perfectly,“Vana” meaning “forest” in Thai, and “Belle” meaning “beautiful.” Finding its home in a secluded cove along the pristine white sands of Chaweng Noi Beach, this Luxury Collection Resort is surrounded by lush, verdant forest, offering an exclusive retreat that embodies both tranquility and understated luxury.
From the moment I arrived, I was enveloped in the warmth of Thai hospitality. The welcome was both thoughtful and heartfelt — first, a Phuang Malai, a delicate floral garland of orchids and jasmine in soft purples and whites, was placed in my hands, a symbol of grace and tradition. Then a serene ritual followed — a gentle hand-washing with fragrant water, meant to cleanse away negativity and invite peace and intention into my stay. It was a quiet yet profound gesture, setting the tone for the tranquility that awaited me.
The Ambiance
Vana Belle doesn’t feel like a typical vacation resort, it feels like entering a hidden sanctuary, tucked gently between the jungle and the sea. There’s no grand lobby or towering ceilings. Instead, it’s all open-air, quiet, and full of natural light. The breeze flows through, carrying the scent of salt and tropical flowers, and the view? An endless blue horizon that hits you the moment you walk in.
Embodying the epitome of a tropical island, Koh Samui and the resort is truly beautiful. From the soft white sand of the beach, the sway of the coconut trees in the breeze, and the sound of the waves washing up on the shore, there’s something about being surrounded by nature that instantly makes everything feel lighter. I found myself walking slower, breathing deeper, and smiling at the smallest things - taking it all in.
Setting the tone for my visit, the welcoming staff invited me to make a wish by placing a lotus flower in a pool of water, which is honestly a moment I will never forget. I waited in the open-air lobby, sipping on a chilled, pea flower herbal tea that begins as a bright blue, and then deepens to rich, indigo colour. It was a surreal moment, marking my first visit to Koh Samui, as I was surrounded by the sound of nature and the view of the most stunning blue beach stretching out in front of me.
The Rooms
Each of the 79 suites and villas at Vana Belle are thoughtfully designed to offer privacy and tranquility, featuring private pools, expansive terraces, and stunning ocean or jungle views, each creating a seamless blend between luxury and natural beauty.
The space is designed with understated elegance, a mix of polished wood, soft stone, and subtle Thai details that don’t scream for attention, but exude luxury. In keeping with the tranquil vibes of the resort, I loved how nothing felt overly styled - my Ocean View Pool Suite was beautiful in a way that allowed nature to take centre stage. The private pool with views over the beach and the seemingly endless ocean framed with picture perfect palm trees, didn’t even feel real.
The room itself blended seamlessly into that calm energy. Warm tones, soft textures, and wide windows that let the outside in. It was the kind of space where you immediately kick off your shoes, sink into silence, and forget what day it is. Even the seating felt intentional, like it was meant for long pauses and slow mornings.
Feeling like sanctuary in its own right, the bathroom was spacious, quiet, and softly lit, every detail, from the giant tub to the plush towels, felt thoughtfully curated for relaxation, inviting guests to unwind in pure comfort. The 100% certified natural and organic amenity selection, was generous and beautifully laid out. Even the scent of the soap felt like part of the experience.
The interiors blend contemporary design with Thai influences, incorporating polished wood, soft stone, and refined décor to create a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. The bathrooms
Beyond the rooms, Vana Belle offers guests world-class facilities, including an infinity-edge beachfront pool, a luxury spa, and fine dining experiences at Kiree and Panali restaurants. One of the things I appreciated most about the resort was that you don’t have to walk around if you don’t want to, the team provide a golf cart service to take you anywhere on the property. It made moving between the beach, my suite, and the restaurants so easy and relaxing.
The Dining
My mornings began at Kiree, the resort’s elegant signature restaurant perched just above the beach. Kiree provides a selection of coffees, fresh fruits and juices, in addition to more traditional Thai dishes and of course, à la carte breakfast options; there is something for all tastes. I recommend trying the coconut water, freshly punctured, the ice cold juice is refreshing and the perfect way to start your day.
If you're hoping to indulge in the ambiance of your own space for just a little bit longer, guests can opt to begin their day with a luxurious floating breakfast, served right in the privacy of their villa pool, a perfect way to enjoy the most important meal of the day.
The dining experiences at Vana Belle was its effortless elegance; lunch and dinner were always mouthwatering and flavourful, especially at Panali. Panali is the resort's laid-back, beachfront restaurant serving up a menu of southern Thai dishes, with the shoreside views served as a side dish. One of my favourite dishes was the Thai soup; warm, aromatic, and full of depth. Quick bites are also available at the Pool Bar.
On one of the evenings during my stay, the resort organised a private beachfront dinner for our group - a long, candle-lit buffet showcased a wide selection of fresh seafood and delicious Thai dishes. The evening was complemented by a fire show performance that was surreal.
Wellness
Guests looking to maintain their fitness routine at Vana Belle can enjoy the fully equipped, 24-hour gym, designed for comfort and performance. With floor-to-ceiling windows framing serene garden views and a low-impact floor for enhanced support, the space offers an inviting atmosphere for workouts. Whether opting for a dynamic cardio session or strength training, guests can exercise with ease while immersed in a beautiful setting.
With an array of guided classes — including yoga, Pilates, and Thai kickboxing — there’s no shortage of ways to stay active during your stay.
The Vana Spa is exactly what is needed after travelling. Offering a selection of indulgent spa therapies including massages, facials and traditional Thai rituals, the spa is a truly soothing experience. Designed to heal and rejuvenate, the spa menu draws inspiration from four revered heroines in Thai mythology, Manorah, Matthana, Rodjana, and Busaba, each embodying virtues of grace, wisdom, and wellbeing.

Their attentiveness felt natural and sincere, striking the perfect balance between thoughtful service and quiet comfort. Whether accommodating a request or offering a friendly smile, their presence infused the experience with a sense of ease and belonging, making every moment feel seamless and special.

Unlike many resorts, Vana Belle offers a more flexible approach to family-friendly experiences, opting for a curated selection of child-friendly and family activities rather than a dedicated kids' club. Meanwhile, the expert activities team is always available to organise excursions and coordinate memorable day trips, offering families the chance to explore the best of Koh Samui together.

Exploring Beyond the Resort
Outside the calm of Vana Belle, the island of Koh Samui has a steady, unhurried rhythm. It isn't loud or flashy. Narrow streets weave through the town, with motorbikes slipping through side roads and shortcuts. Tiny shops are nestled between homes, and fruit stands appear on random corners. Watching the locals move effortlessly through their day, it seemed like no one was ever in a rush — and for once, neither was I.
One of the small joys of my stay was stopping by local vendors for fresh tropical fruit. Perfectly ripe and full of flavour, it was a simple, refreshing snack. I didn’t explore far from the resort, but even the short walk revealed that authentic island vibe that is the beating heart of Koh Samui.
In Short
Offering visitors postcard perfect beach views, warm tropical air, and slow, sun-soaked days, despite being a luxury resort, Vana Belle doesn’t rely on grand gestures to make an impression. Instead, it allows the natural environment, expansive views do all the talking, these elements are only further enhanced by a rare and refined sense of comfort, one that feels effortless, personal, and thoughtfully curated.
For anyone drawn to nature, the sounds of ocean, and that easy, barefoot feeling, Koh Samui isn’t just a destination, it’s an invitation to unwind.
