When Riyadh Air officially launches its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet later this year, passengers won’t just be flying — they’ll be part of the navigation experience.
The Kingdom's digital-first national airline has partnered with FlightPath3D marks a bold step forward in inflight tech, debuting a 3D map platform that’s more interactive travel companion than passive display.
What is Flight Path 3D?
FlightPath3D leads the aviation mapping space with a platform designed to elevate the passenger experience. More than just a flight tracker, it offers travellers a dynamic, interactive way to explore their route, preview destinations, and follow their journey in real time, turning every screen into a personalised window to the world.
Although not necessarily a new feature on flights, Riyadh Air's next-gen tech system will integrate live flight data — speed, altitude, route progress — with a visually rich interface that lets travellers explore their destination before they even land. Think of it as a curated preview of the world below, layered with cultural insights, local highlights, and network-wide connectivity. Whether you're en route to London or touching down in Riyadh for the first time, the map adapts to your journey, offering a personalised experience that reflects Riyadh Air’s guest-first philosophy.
FlightPath3D’s president, Duncan Jackson, described the collaboration as a challenge to “reimagine what an inflight map could be”. The result is a sleek, intuitive platform that aligns with Riyadh Air’s broader ambition: to become one of the most technologically advanced carriers in the world. As a digitally native airline backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Riyadh Air is positioning itself as a disruptor in the aviation space—not just through its destinations, but through the onboard experience itself.
The inflight map is just one piece of a larger tech-forward puzzle. Riyadh Air has committed to outfitting its fleet with state-of-the-art cabin interiors, high tech entertainment systems, and seamless connectivity solutions.
Saudi's Booming Tourism Industry
As the Kingdom continues its transformation under Vision 2030, Riyadh Air’s embrace of immersive tech signals a shift in how Saudi Arabia wants to be seen: not just as a destination, but as a leader in innovation, design, and global hospitality. And with this new digital co-pilot guiding the way, the journey promises to be just as compelling as the arrival.
Riyadh Air is set to take off from Q4, 2025 - the exact date is TBC
