Emirates to offer free, ultra-fast Wi-Fi to all passengers on every flight

In a move set to redefine the premium long-haul experience, Emirates has announced a revolutionary partnership with SpaceX's Starlink to provide complimentary, high-speed internet access across its entire fleet.

This strategic upgrade will eliminate the frustrating need for membership tiers or payment, offering ground-quality connectivity to every passenger, regardless of their cabin class or Skywards membership status. The announcement positions the Middle Eastern airline as a leader in global connectivity, promising to deliver ground-quality internet access to every traveler at cruising altitude.

Passengers on equipped Emirates aircraft will no longer be limited to basic messaging; they will be able to stream movies, play online games, conduct video calls, and work seamlessly on both their personal devices and the aircraft’s seat back screens simultaneously. The airline has further committed to expanding its entertainment offering by introducing Live TV over Starlink, initially on personal devices and then integrated into the seat back systems by late December 2025.

The massive project, unveiled at the recent Dubai Airshow, aims to equip 232 aircraft, including the iconic Airbus A380s and the flagship Boeing 777s, with Starlink's Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite technology. This in-the-air WiFi service will provide the high-speed and low-latency necessary to support modern digital demands.

The fleet-wide installation is an ambitious undertaking, beginning with the Boeing 777 aircraft in November 2025 and moving to the Airbus A380 fleet in February 2026, with full completion across the airline’s 232-aircraft fleet expected by mid-2027. Emirates is accelerating the process by retrofitting approximately 14 aircraft per month and utilising an industry-first setup of three antennas on its A380s to ensure maximum capacity and coverage. This commitment to industry-leading connectivity is being implemented alongside Emirates' larger, multi-billion-dollar cabin refurbishment program, reinforcing the airline's strategic vision to significantly elevate the entire passenger journey.
