If you're looking for an escape from the searing summer heat, Al Ula might just be the answer. With temperatures up to 10°C cooler than neighbouring cities, the Saudi heritage hotspot is launching Summer Untold, a seasonal program packed with culture, nature, and adventure, all set against its dramatic sandstone backdrop.
This year’s lineup is designed for both downtime and adrenaline. Think: remote work from a luxury eco-resort, poolside DJ sets under desert skies, and concerts held in an open-air amphitheatre surrounded by ancient rock formations.
Adventure is also dialled up. The third edition of the Al Ula Desert Blaze, returning this August, invites trail runners to take on a course that winds through some of the region’s most iconic natural and archaeological landmarks. If you’d rather scale cliffs than jog past them, the Al Ula Adventure Hub is expanding its offer with heart-pounding activities like mountain rappelling, Via Ferrata climbing routes, the Canyon Hammock, and the Kingdom’s longest and fastest zipline.
Want something slower-paced? Head to the summer oasis farms, where you can walk through AlUla’s lush date groves every Saturday and meet local farmers preserving centuries-old traditions. The Old Town also offers a glimpse into Al Ula’s layered past, where mudbrick homes, winding alleys and old souqs still echo with history.
