Since its inception, the management team of Riyadh Air have emphasised that the new national carrier would be a digital-first airline. Staying true to this philopsophy, this week, Riyadh Air officially launched RX Pay.
RX Pay is a proprietary co-branded payment card suite developed directly alongside Mastercard and premier Saudi banking partners. While its official banking partners have yet to be revealed, RX Pay marks a major evolution beyond traditional, static airline credit cards. By embedding Riyadh Air’s signature hospitality into daily spending, the card seamlessly converts routine purchases into tangible rewards through the Sfeer loyalty program.
Riyadh Air Credit Card RX Pay Perks
At the core of RX Pay is its deep integration into Sfeer, Riyadh Air’s official loyalty program. Rather than restricting earnings solely to air travel, RX Pay cardholders accrue Sfeer Points across every transaction, from local dining and online shopping to international travel purchases made anywhere Mastercard is accepted worldwide. Riyadh Air announced both credit cards and prepaid cards under the RX Pay umbrella.
A major highlight for frequent travellers is the flexibility of the rewards:
- Non-Expiring Points: Unlike many regional loyalty programs where miles carry strict expiration dates, Sfeer Points never expire as long as the account remains active.
- Accepted Internationally: RX Pay is accepted anywhere Mastercard is accepted worldwide, meaning you earn Sfeer Points on all your everyday purchases.
- Universal Redemption Options: Beyond booking Riyadh Air flights and cabin upgrades, cardholders can turn Sfeer Points into real-world value by redeeming them across broader travel experiences and everyday retail purchases wherever Mastercard is processed.
- Tier Status Acceleration: Flight purchases made via the card accrue both spend-based Sfeer Points and Level Points, the tier-qualifying metric used to elevate members through the Sfeer loyalty levels.

Sfeer Loyalty (Riyadh Air) versus Al Fursan Loyalty (Saudia)
Traditional airline credit cards typically involve a carrier simply licensing its brand logo to an established retail bank. Riyadh Air reversed this dynamic, actively designing the user experience, reward structure, and benefits end-to-end while delegating underwriting and regulatory management to partner banks.

On the RX Pay website, they have strategically compared the similarities and differences between the credit cards and banking suite of the Sfeer Loyalty Program created and implemented by Riyadh Air, with the long standing Al Fursan Loyalty Program implemented by Saudia Airlines.
In the official press release published by Riyadh Air's Media Hub, Adam Boukadida, Chief Financial Officer of Riyadh Air, said the goal was to craft a product that delivers constant value: "We didn't want to put our name on someone else's card — we wanted to create something truly Riyadh Air, one that rewards our guests in their everyday lives, not just when they fly."
Initially rolling out exclusively across Saudi Arabia via Mastercard, the RX Pay card suite is slated for a phased expansion across Riyadh Air’s international network as new local banking alliances are formed around the globe.
