Saudi Arabia’s northwestern coast is fast becoming the epicentre of ultra-luxury travel, defined by a dramatic juxtaposition of rugged desert peaks and pristine turquoise waters, and a new destination - AMAALA - is taking shape.

Slated to welcome its first guests in mid-July, the upcoming Six Senses AMAALA property will be the second Six Senses destination in Saudi Arabia, building on the success of Six Senses Southern Dunes, which opened in November 2023.

Globally recognised for its remote sanctuaries, immersed in local culture, the brand is currently executing a major regional expansion in the Middle East. While Six Senses Zighy Bay in Oman has long been its sole representative in the GCC, but the luxury, barefoot wellness brand is set to open a selection of properties in the region, including Six Senses The Palm, Dubai is scheduled to make its UAE debut on September 1, 2026.

The new AMAALA resort boasts a boutique and intimate scale, comprising of just 70 luxury guest rooms and suites, 30 private pool villas, and 25 branded beachfront residences, which offers a rare opportunity for foreign freehold ownership within a special economic zone. Arranged in an authentic, village-inspired layout, the resort's design is heavily influenced by the heritage of Saudi coastal architecture. Set within the natural amphitheater of Triple Bay, the wellness focussed resort will span a diverse topography, positioned directly between pristine beaches, a quiet mangrove lagoon, and an elevated clifftop area.

The accommodations are uniquely divided by sensory experiences: the bay-side suites open directly onto white-sand beaches and the main swimming pool, whereas the secluded lagoon villas are tucked along a private, tranquil mangrove lagoon to provide immediate, quiet access to the spa. Throughout the property, interiors emphasise refined craftsmanship, featuring earthy textures, natural wood furnishings, and layered textiles that evoke a sense of warm, contemporary sanctuary.

When it comes to dining, the resort has designed its culinary offerings as a continuous, full-day experience. Guests can transition from the laid-back beachfront atmosphere of Beach Shack, to the sophisticated tables of Soraya, an evening-centric venue defined by its creative marriage of Japanese and Latin American flavours. Meanwhile, an all day menu will be available at Joud, with the menu highlighting Middle Eastern and Mediterranean classics.

However, it is the wellness oasis at Six Senses AMAALA that truly sets the property apart within this new health-focused destination. The resort introduces a highly sophisticated ecosystem engineered for deep physical and mental rejuvenation. At its core, a cutting-edge Longevity Centre and Biohacking Recovery Lounge pairs clinical diagnostics and cryotherapy with gender-specific thermal circuits—housing premium saunas, steam rooms, salt sanctuaries, ice baths, and vitality pools. The therapeutic journey then deepens through immersive sensory rituals, from the weightless relaxation of the Watsu pool and the acoustic meditation of the sound dome to mindful movement on the resort's dedicated yoga platform.

By marrying ancient Arabic architecture with pioneering wellness methodologies, the resort aims to do more than host guests; it is designed to fundamentally restore them.
