The nation's capital city, Riyadh, is set to get twenty new parks.

Supporting the sustainability and environmentally conscious elements of both Riyadh's bid for Expo 2030, and the Kingdom's wider plan, Vision 2030, these new green spaces will spread across an area of over 180,000 square metres.

Planned for residential areas, these parks will benefit both residents and the local environment, as over 7000 shrubs, trees, flora and fauna will be planted.

These parklands will also mean more paved walkways for local residents, encouraging more people to walk and enjoy their community space. More than 1000 car parking spaces will also be made available, making the parklands accessible to all.

Six playground areas will also be built.

The twenty new parks were inaugurated at a ceremony under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Abdurrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh region. Mayor of the Riyadh area, Prince Faisal bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf was also in attendance to celebrate these new green spaces.
