Participants of Rally Jameel 2024 are set to take to the roads, or more aptly, the dunes today.

Slated to finish on Friday March 8, also International Women's Day 2024, Rally Jameel is an all-female motorsports competition, and is a thrilling showcase of talent, combining a competitive race mentality, with off-roading skills and accurate navigation.

Passing through five different cities over five days, the route will see participants' daily averages vary anywhere from 300km to 400km per day. The teams of two will accrue points upon check in at each destination, with the winners being announced on the final day.

With this in mind, Rally Jameel is not just a race determined by speed, it pivots on strategic thinking, precision navigation and team work - whilst also getting to grips with the natural landscape and uneven terrain of the Kingdom.

In its third edition for 2024, Rally Jameel will this year launch under the theme of 'She Shifts the World', acknowledging the impact of women on the world whilst also giving a small nod to the stick-shift transmission of the vehicles.

Rally Jameel aims to and succeeds in creating a space for women to both participate and compete in an industry and sport traditionally assigned to men.

A beacon for global talent in women's motorsports, Rally Jameel attracts participants from diverse regions of the world, and offers a unique, off-roading, navigational competition that is only open to teams of women. Not only does the competition aim to create a space for women to fairly face-off against each other to be crowned the best, Rally Jameel also serves to acknowledge the talents and collective determination of women, and women in sports.

Backed by the FIA Women in Motorsport and the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), Rally Jameel serves as a testament to the Kingdom's unwavering dedication to promoting and empowering women's active engagement in the sports arena.

In the traditionally male-dominated realm of motorsport, the international industry has been slow to embrace the role of women and both feed and fuel their interest in the sport; a challenge that Rally Jameel actively seeks to address head on.

Beyond showcasing the talent and prowess of these women on the track, the rally holds added significance, especially considering the fact that women across the Kingdom were only granted licenses and the opportunity to drive on Saudi roads in 2018.

So, not only does Rally Jameel showcase the significant contribution of Saudi women to the evolution of motorsport in the region, it also embodies the progressive ethos of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 plan, and encourages a new era of inclusivity and empowerment in the traditionally male sport.

Rally Jameel's dedication to presenting the Kingdom's future-thinking, diverse and vibrant tapestry to the world is evident, and we hope that it continues for years to come.

Ahead of the start of Rally Jameel 2024, Managing Director, Marketing Communications at Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, Munir Khoja said: "...we are deeply encouraged by the growing interest from participants, particularly on an international scale with a remarkable increase in global participation from 36 countries compared to 15 in the inaugural edition of the rally. This enthusiasm underscores our commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia's vision for empowering women."
