Taking to the dunes and racing cross-country, the ultimate all-female, navigation race, Rally Jameel is set to begin today.

Rally Jameel aims to and succeeds in creating a space for women to both participate and compete in an industry and sport traditionally assigned to men and has become a beacon for global talent in women's motorsports as it offer a challenging and exciting competition.

In 2022, Rally Jameel made its debut as the first official, off-road and navigation race open exclusively to female participants and teams. A first for the Kingdom, and a first for the Gulf region.

Competing in teams of two, each car has a driver and a co-driver, with the co-driver taking on the main responsibilities of on-the-road navigation and any route changes that may have to be implemented due to weather for example.

2024 marks the third edition of the race.

Taking place over five days from March 4 to March 8, the Jameel Rally will also pass through five different cities with five check points: Hail, Umluj, AlUla, Yanbu and King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC).

This year's race will wrap up on March 8, a highly significant date in the calendar as it coincides with International Women's Day, making it a fitting day for the event to finish.

According to Managing Director, Marketing Communications at Abdul Latif Jameel Motors, Munir Khoja, this year's edition will see participants from thirty-six different countries taking part, a significant uptick from participants from just 15 countries in 2022.

Fifty-three teams will set out on the journey to navigate the intense terrain of the Kingdom, but how many will finish and which team will be crowned the winner?

The 2024 edition of the Jameel Rally sees 106 competitors taking part, a number that is expected to grow year on year.

300 - 400

In order to remain in the game, and be in the running to be declared an official finisher of the Jameel Rally, teams will have to complete between 300 and 400 kilometres per day in order to maintain the pace.

It is expected that the teams will complete a minimum of 1600 kilometres as they navigate and race through five different cities, and hit five individual check points.
