SRMG, the largest integrated media group in the MENA region, has unveiled the second edition of the Saudi Young Lions design competition.

This initiative serves as a vital platform for young and emerging creators in Saudi Arabia, allowing them to showcase their creativity and innovation. The competition also underscores SRMG’s commitment to fostering the next generation of local talents and innovators.

Registration is now open for graphic designers, illustrators, and creatives under 30 who are currently working in Saudi Arabia’s marketing and advertising industry. Teams of two must register by May 13, 2024, to participate. The competition brief will be released on May 16, 2024, giving registered participants 48 hours to respond with their creative solutions.

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of industry leaders from renowned global advertising agencies.

Winners of the Saudi Young Lions competition will advance to compete in the prestigious Global Young Lions competition, held in Cannes, France, in June. This opportunity not only offers exposure on the global stage but also enables the winning team to network with industry luminaries, learn from leading creative directors, and attend inspiring talks and workshops.

Fadi Mroue, Chief Creative Officer of SRMG, emphasised the importance of empowering the next generation of creators and storytellers, highlighting SRMG’s commitment to providing necessary support and resources: “The future of the creative industry depends on the next generation continuing to push boundaries through thought-provoking and innovative work. The success of the first edition of the Saudi Young Lions competition sets the stage for increased participation in the second year. We look forward to seeing the Saudi winners compete against the best and brightest young creators at this year’s Cannes Lions Festival in June.”

Building on the success of the inaugural edition, SRMG’s partnership with Cannes Lions for the second Saudi Young Lions competition reflects its dedication to nurturing local and regional talent.

In 2023, SRMG became the official representative of Cannes Lions in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in the partnership. The inaugural competition witnessed the historic victory of two young Saudi women designers, Reema Ibrahim and Shoug Abdullah, who competed at the Global Young Lions competition in Cannes.

Additionally, the increased participation from the MENA region at the 2023 Cannes Lions Festival, including Saudi Arabia’s historic Grand Prix win, further demonstrates the region’s growing creativity and innovation on the global stage.
