Located in Saudi’s eastern province, Al Khobar is renowned as a thriving business hub, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
However, there’s so much more to this vibrant and culturally diverse city, handsomely winding along the Arabian Gulf’s coast and seamlessly blending modernity with traditional Saudi charm.
Having grown up here, I’ve always loved how easy it is to encounter new faces and nurture lifelong friendships. That’s because, despite the city’s size and diverse population from across the world, we’ve all managed to create a close-knit community where everyone gets to call it home.
This metropolis also offers entertainment and leisure experiences – from retail destinations and restaurants to parks and beaches. Landmarks like the iconic King Fahd Causeway, linking Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, add to its allure. So, whether you are visiting from a nearby city, have a layover, or simply want to explore, here is a useful guide.

Be it a solo café afternoon or a group meeting, this venue has a comfy indoor setup and its Villaggio branch offers a spacious terrace overlooking a fountain. I recommend the iced matcha latte.

If you want to give those taste buds a treat, this lively and artsy café serves a selection of savoury and sweet bagels.

KOKORO
KOKORO is the first specialised Japanese curry spot in the Kingdom. With beef, chicken, shrimp, and eggplant varieties on the menu, everyone can tuck into their favourite form of kare and rice.

This is a popular tourist destination in the Eastern Province, for good reason. While the museum helps you learn about the country’s culture and heritage, past and present, the restaurant is where authentic Saudi fare gets those taste buds tingling.
La Gondola Al Khobar
One of the oldest and most authentic Italian restaurants in Al Khobar, La Gondola offers delicious dishes, including, of course, pastas and pizzas. Since its inception, it has been run by Italian management and continues to be a popular destination for locals.
